I would have liked to have seen this game without Whitaker being held, grabbed, slapped, and pushed all over the court without a call. The kid just got beat up all day. Remember folks, he's only a sophomore. You would think they would have a back up plan for if Whitaker got hurt, in foul trouble, etc. to bring the ball up the floor. Where would Hazard be this year without him?

 

Worst reffed game of the tournament. People around me from all over the state were talking about how one sided the game seemed to be called, particularly the second half.

Shelby's point guards are only sophomores and there are two of them. Whitaker was hounded but he wasn't fouled all over the court. Hazard couldn't handle the shelby press....ballgame!

I think Whitaker had 21 points.

Hazard finishes a great season 31 wins, All A regional Championship, District Championship, and 14 region championship. Plus they return most of this team next season.

I think this problem will be fixed next season with the addition of Eric Back.

The Rockets have the athletes they just do not have the basketball players that Mason does. People speak of athletes way to much especially on the high school level.

 

That's right, Trevor Setty isn't much of an athlete but he's a heck of a basketball player.

Great game by Whitaker of Hazard. Hes a great kid I know very well. I was very happy for him. He was hounded tonight.

 

This was the first time I have seen him play and I was very impressed he a great player. Is he a senior? They did an incredible job deffensively on him in the 2nd half, that was the key to the game.

The Whitaker kid was hounded and hacked all over the floor. I am not a Hazard fan but it was bad. The entire tourney officating has been horrible. Maybe the worst called state tourney for several years. That isn't any sour grapes it is just fact. one official out of every crew this year has been terrible. Great year for Hazard and Shelby. I think Elliott woke a sleeping giant!

Congratulations to Coach Clark and the Rockets. Keep the 8th Region alive. You're in the final four.

I wouldn't say it was worse called game in the tourny & Hazard definitely would not be in the state if Whitaker not have transferred. He is really good but dribbles way to much especially against the press. He also needs to get his team in the game more. He plays a bit selfish for a point gaurd.

I agree, he was hounded, grabbed, pulled, and pushed all over the floor. He wasnt fouled because the refs didnt call it, but that doesnt mean about 10-20 fouls couldnt have been called on SC.

Since we are talking about "what if's" I think you have to mention a Bell Co. team with Whitaker and Warren. What if? indeed...

I thought it was the worst called game.

 

He does dribble a lot, but he probably doesnt trust a lot of the other kids with the ball. I know I probably wouldnt either. He is the heart and soul of that team and probably does play a bit selfish, but he needs to. He is not only the playmaker, but the best scorer on the team. The kid, #4 is solid, but not on the level of Whitaker.

Congratulations to Hazard on a fine season. I also believe the officiating left a lot to be desired and wonder what will ever be done about it. It seems it goes down hill every year. Nevertheless, Hazard represented the 14th region well and all their team returns except for Josh Combs (No. 2) who is a reserve guard. Hopefully, we will mature, play wiser and be able to return to represent the 14th region again next year!
