9th region 08/09

Dont know much about the 9th region, but was impressed with Boone Co. when they beat Adair Co. last year. How many starters did they lose? I think one has transferred to Scott Co. I thought that Holmes lost more starters than thier best player Henderson? I didnt think that Boone lost much and that Holmes did, so a figuired that Boone would be the favorite.

Boone lost their leading scorer in Krohman but return their other 4 starters. While they have a solid junior to be class, none are at the level of the Holmes juniors to be. The Boone sophs started because yes they're talented, but to be honest Boone's junior and senior class wasn't very good at all. Boone will probably end up being the #2 team in nky, but it doesn't help that they lost some depth with the Flannery kid to SC.

Holmes lost 6 seniors altogether (Avery, Henderson, Clark, Nelson, Hall, Humphrey), but return 3 juniors to be (Johnson Brothers, Pittman) who started despite Holmes being a senior laden team last year which goes to show you just how good they really are considering those same group of seniors were state champs for their 16 u AAU year. (NKY Hawks) Throw in the missing link left by Henderson, with 6'3 G Brandon Housley (transfer from Newport) and you have the reason for Holmes being the favorite.

Holmes will be bigger and more athletic this year than last. They will be reloading for the next few years with all the young talent coming through.
