I was ready to say the same thing. Reagan lowered taxes and almost doubled income for the government, but Congress kept spending on items the Founding Father's never included in the Constitution.

We have programs that need fixing so unless we want to do away with proven programs that the American people want, we're going to have to pay for them.

 

Do away with all the programs that are not included in the Delegate Powers goven to Congress. Read Article 2-Section 8-Clauses 1 to 17. The military, post offices and roads are mentioned, as well as regulation of trade and money, but nothing about welfare, social security and all the other social experiments that are sucking us dry.

I hope you are not including social security as an experiment. We pay for that with every pay check. AND the reason it is claimed to always be in trouble is they borrow from it to fund other things and never repay it ! IE They used it to help fund the Vietnam war and did not put it back. AND they never mention it either !

By raising taxes on the middle class in rolling back the Bush tax cuts that they swore was ONLY on the rich.

 

And don't forget it was the SAME DEMOCRATS (with the exception of Hillary and Obama) who just voted to not send a bill threw that would get rid of earmarks that are part of the reason that the budget is out of whack.

 

So, let's translate the Democrats actions. We want to spend to help us get reelected and we want you guys in the middle class and higher to pay for our out of control spending.

Right, and education. Doesn't say anything about education, which accounts for a sizeable portion of the budget.

Social Security was one of the best programs ever conceived. It was brought about at a time that elderly folks were having to stand in soup lines and it was an insurance policy that all Americans had. There was a separate fun for SS but it has been ravaged to pay for other things (more weapons, wars, etc.) and in an effort to deplete SS to the point that privitization could be forced upon the public. In 2000 we had a budged surplus that Al Gore proposed putting into SS but he was laughed at for his "lock box" idea. Change could be made rather quickly by simply raising the cap on SS. Do this and possibly take some of the cash going to Iraq and put it into SS and it's pretty solvent.
