Is it common for Historically Black Colleges & Universities to hire white coaches? Just curious.

 

Not common but if your K State you just don't turn away someone with his resume no matter if he is Martian

Obviously it shows that he can't handle the pressure of coaching Boyle County and would rather sink into a no pressure job of coaching the o-line at a Division II school that is known more for its band than its football prowess. I'm thinking that those job offers he thought were going to come his way didn't come and he had to settle before he ended up not working at all since he wants to be close to the game and his farm. Boyle County was going to take care of him for life but I guess he didn't believe he could re-invigorate the program and didn't want to deal with the pressure of trying to do so. Good luck Guy, it was nice knowing you. I'd rather have Larry French anyways.

Generally speaking, Historically Black Colleges and Universities hire the most qualified applicant whether he be black or white. How much they can pay also plays a part. Granted more often than not, you'll see an all black coaching staff, but again, money plays a part in who accepts and declines the jobs as well. I have seen white coaches as well as white players at historically Black Colleges and Universities.

I looked on line at Kentucky State's staff and they were all African American.

Not a bad situation, hopefully the knowledge and the name will help with the recruitment of good students who want to play football. Football hasn't been good since Smalls left. Don't know how long he will stay, but hopefully long enough to get things back on track. Maybe D-1 is in the future plans?
