Newport Freshmen Coachs have had a few good years as of late. I think the Middle school an the NFF have been doing a great job to send these kids up to the high school. What was it about 2 Years ago Newport played for the Freshmen Championship. The Freshmen Coaching staff that Newport has now is doing a very good job an I think that will mean good thing for the future at Newport. Wouldn't that be something Newport against Highland.

That would be great. Neewport had some good teams in the late 70's early 80's mid 80's and the mid 90's too. Newport's middle school coaches are doing a good job too. NMS is the major feeder to the high school -- NFF has not sent that many kids to the high school program for quite some time. This doesn't make any sense -- the NFF has some good coaches and support -- but it always seems that by the time they reach the senior level they either transfer schools or they just fall off the face of the earth. Sorry to go on -- but it just doesn't make any sense.

The Birds will have some pretty decent linemen this year also. Having coached the 8th graders last year, there are some athletic kids playing the line in that class. There also are some big kids, but if they want to play the line for Highlands, they better start their diets today.

 

True may be a stud, but I wouldn't count out Joey Ringwald as a running back quite yet. Joey in my opinion was the best running back in the 7/8th grade league last year. He's very fast and runs with authority.

 

I expect the Highlands frosh to do very well this year and hopefully start another undefeated streak.

 

Your right LN. I forgot about him. Having True and Ringwald in the backfield with Carter at QB will give them many options running the ball.
