LHSFAN Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Congrats to Boone on the win and Congrats to Ludlow on a great season. Ludlow came out and played very hard tonight and definitely made Boone work for it. Ludlow cut it to single digits in the 4th quarter, but couldn't capitalize from there. The future still looks very bright for the Ludlow program with most of the players returning next year. This years seniors definitely will be missed though because they did a lot in turning this program around and making it one of the top ten programs in the region.
Hamilton Joe Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Very good effort by the Panthers tonight and I believe they caused some problems for Boone at times especially with how they were able to deny Behrens the ball. Boone was able to take advantage of Ludlow mistakes and turnovers and converted them into points. Boones depth was too much for the Panthers tonight but this 1st round matchup was far better then I believe most would have predicted. I thought Brook Jones for Ludlow played an especially strong game and not made some big baskets but at times was able to control the tempo of the game. Obviously Boone played well enough to win but they will have to play better to beat NDA. Good luck to the Rebels and congrats to Coach Stamm and his Lady Panthers on another great year..

That would be as close as it would get as Beth Sparrow hit back to back three pointers to push the Boone County lead to 11 as the quarter ended, 18-7. 2nd quarter: Slow starts to the second quarter as both teams were held scoreless for the first three minutes. Brooke Jones opened the scoring for Ludlow with a three pointer. Katie Behrens countered with a bucket for Boone County. Brooke Jones drained another three pointer as did Chelsea Clary to complete the Ludlow scoring. Jacey Bradley added 6 points for Boone County as the half ended with Boone county up 9, 27-16. 3rd Quarter: Boone County started the second half out on a 4 point run to extend the lead to 15. Ludlow got a bucket from Brooke Jones, but Beth Sparrow countered for the Lady Rebels to push it back to 15 with 3:48 to go in the quarter. The lead was extended to 17 with 2:30 to go, but a Caitlin Ottaway bucket brought it back to 15 and two made free throws from Ashley Daugherty made it a 13 point lead going into the 4th quarter, 35-22 Boone County. 4th quarter: Boone County extended the lead to 15, but Ludlow was still in the game as the Lady Panthers cut the lead to 10 with 5 minutes to go. Boone County was content to play keep away starting about the 3:30 mark. The lead ended up being 17 at the final horn as the Boone County Lady Rebels will go on to the 9th Region semi-finals with the 52-35 victory. Ludlow ends their season with a 21-9 record. Boone County's season continues and their record goes to 21-9 also. Well they definitely didn't win by as much as they wanted, and they definitely was not able to take it easy like you said. They had to work very hard to pull of that victory. I mean I love it how some people will just give Ludlow no credit at all. I know its funny how even though Ludlow one of the top 10 teams in the region, usually no one give them much respect. Its funny how the team you said that would name the score in Boone Co. has to have an old Ludlow player to be as good as they are. I mean arguably the best player in the region in Behrens is an old Ludlow player that should have still been at Ludlow. Ludlow has to deal with parents moving their players all the time to other schools. I mean just in the last 3 years, two of the best players in the region were former Ludlow girls. This year in Katie Behrens and then two years ago in Rachel Lantry. So its just really funny how people would give a school like Ludlow no respect, when other teams have to get players from Ludlow to be as successful as they are. I mean even without those two players Ludlow has turned into one of the top 10 girl programs in the region. Yet for some reason people like you never give them respect, and have comments like that. Acting like they don't belong there and saying that they would have the scored named on them. Yeah they didn't beat any of the top 5 teams in the region this year, however they are on the very next level below that. So they definitely deserve more respect than what some of you all give them on here.
