Raceland will no doubt have to play better basketball vs. Ashland in the semi's to advance.

Raceland was lead in scoring by B. Keeton with 16pts., Lewis added 11pts..

Raceland dominated the boards tonight and imo that is what won this game for the Lady Rams. B. Keeton came up huge on the boards as well as leading the Lady Rams in scoring, she ended up with with 16 rebounds as well! Great job by Brooke, a fine young lady that came up big for the Lady Rams tonight. Lewis was also big on the boards pulling in 9 rebounds.

 

Another fine broadcast by the WUGO crew (as usual) .....my favorite line/quote of the night was when Vanderhoff (I believe that is who it was)got knocked to the floor on a very hard foul, my man behind the mic. said "Vanderhoff just got dropped like 3rd period French" . :lol: Another classic! :thumb::lol:

:thumb: They certanly did cville, Bath showed up ready to play and flat out took it to the Lady Rams. The Lady Cats were lead in scoring by Razor (spelling?) with 14pts., this young lady had one heck of a game and was all over the place tonight. WUGO radio crew seemed to be calling her name all night. Again, very good job by Bath Co.. :thumb:

Wasn't there an incident towards the end that could've possibly marred the outcome of this game?

I was listening in and couldn't understand exactly what was going on?

six players on the floor while Raceland was shooting a free throw.

Raceland had 6 players on the floor while shooting a one and bonus. Wilson missed the free throw, a Bath Co player got the rebound but thought it was a 2 shot foul. People were yelling about 6 players on the floor, Coach Trimble was trying to get a player off the floor, the Bath Co girl turns and hands the ball to the official who was out of bounds. Raceland gets the ball back. Eventually gets fouled and makes 2 free throws to seal the game.

 

Could have been a big swing if called. Can't see how the official at the table didn't catch it. He was standing right in front of me and I saw it! But that shouldn't take away from the Lady Rams who toughed this one out. I feel for Coach Arlen McNabb and his girls, it was a very bad no call.

 

On a positive note, I LOVED the venue. Weatherby Gym is a great place for this tournament. I know some people said the floor was a little slick, but the atmosphere was great. The crowd was not all that large, but in that gym it was loud. If this game would have been in Ellis T., it would not have been nearly as exciting and fun to broadcast because the crowd would have been like bb's in a shoe box. I say have the girl's tourney there every year!! I am sure others have their opinions and that is fine. The teams may like the facilities better at the AAC, I don't know. But I enjoyed Weatherby!!

Thanks for the help! Yeah it sounds like a bad no call for a team that seemed like it gave everything to win. Sounds like Raceland did survive and advance.

All in all, the officials did an OK job. There were a few times when things got a little sloppy, but all in all not a bad job by the men (and women) in stripes.
