Mason just has too many guns for anybody in the 39th. It's been that way for the past several years. All the other teams can hope is they don't draw them in the first round. Good luck to Augusta they are going to need it...

I just said a prayer asking for the Panthers to hit 10 three-pointers in each Quarter tonight. I still don't know if that will help though. Either way, Augusta is earning a well deserving respect in the district as this is their 3rd straight trip to the region regardless of tonights outcome. They'll get through tonight and will look forward to getting a good draw in the region. I think I speak for all augusta fans when I say, we are proud and it will feel good showing off our Panther Pride in the next few games! Good Luck!

Sad for Augusta no way to compete with Mason. Mason can rest their starters and play everybody that night. Give them a break. :ylsuper:

Augusta should be able to compete on the interior but thats not going to matter if the guards can't get it up the floor. Hopefully they can or it will be an extremely ugly night.

This is the typical "pound of flesh" that is offered up throughout the Commonwealth to preserve our sacred one-class basketball system.

 

That being said, I'm not a necessarily proponent of classified statewide basketball. I wouldn't trade our (Brossart) 2000 10th Region Championship and win over Graves County in the Sweet Sixteen for anything - but I am simply pointing out that there are prices to be paid for preserving the age old tradition.

 

Augusta being offered up to Mason County in open district/regional competition is one of the prices that is paid.
