Clay Co. 72 North Laurel 53

Sounded like the Tigers shot pretty well all night. Maybe there was extra inspiration firing them up? :sssh:

When Clay Co. shoots well, they are very difficult to beat because they always play hard and bring the defense............a tough loss for North Laurel to swallow, but Clay must have played really well tonight.

They jumped on North right away and never really allowed the Jags to get it under 10.

The Tigers really played great ball tonight, they really came out wanting to prove that they were the better team. The game really never was close, Clay lead by 15 or 16 most of the game, North was able to get it down to 10 at one point but no closer.

Great Game for Hobbs, Wilson, and freshmen Cody Roberts who had 17.

Clay was 9-of-12 from 3-land and 25-of-45 from the floor.

Coach Spurlock did a great job and so did his team.

Les I was just reading your article with Cannady, I thought your article did a much better job on the story than the London paper. It seemed that the London paper left a lot of information out. Just wanted to say good job on printing the whole story!

Thanks bunches.

I really appreciate that.

Spurlock talk with you after the game?

I covered the 51st District Tournament tonight:D

Clay is now my early pick for No. 2 next year behind Corbin. They had some young guys play very well. Codi Roberts hit four of four 3-pointers and scored 17 and D.J. Wilson hit four of six and scored 18.

How big is Cody Roberts?? He had 17 last night and 8 the game before. He hadn't scored much until the last 2 games. Did he play JV? Nice job from the freshman.

One question.....Did Clay have the refs they wanted???

I would say that Roberts is about 6'2. He had not had any playing time for varsity and then all of a sudden he came out and scored 22 points against Mboro and then tonight he had a huge night with 17. But Clay has some great young players.

The only thing that worries me about next year is the ball handling, we have several good ball handlers but I dont know if they will do as well as Smith and Hobbs. It would have been nice if Zach Lewis was going to play.

The refs were ok'd by Norths Coach before the game.

Also if you were at the game you would have saw that they didnt call for Clay Co, it was a pretty good called game with North getting a few freebies.
