What is the statistical ruling when a player blocks a shot and then goes back up and grabs the ball out of the air? Is it a block and a defensive rebound? If it hits the floor does it become a block and a steal? What if the ball never leaves the shooter's hand before it is blocked and taken away? Is this just a steal, or is it a block and rebound? Just trying to be accurate with our teams stats before we send the final one's in to KHSAA. any input is greatly appreciated. thanks

You should contact the KHSAA about these issues. Since you are going to enter the stats, let them tell you the answers to your questions.

If it is a blocked shot, the shooter gets a field goal attempt. If there is a field goal attempt, there must be a rebound.

If it leaves the shooters hands its a shot. If theres a shot theres a rebound. It maybe a deadball rebound out of bounds (no player getting credit for). If it stay in the players hands and doesn't get released its a steal. So if its a jump ball and the team that is trying to block the shot has the arrow that player would get a steal and the other player trying to shoot the ball would get a Turnover because of the change of poss.

If the player is clearly attempting a shot, it is a blocked shot whether it leaves the shooters hand or not, and not a steal. If it's a block that results in a jump ball then it would be a team rebound or dead ball rebound. Also, the possession arrow shouldn't determine whether or not you charge someone with a turnover.
