East Carter 54 Ashland 43

Featured Replies

Wow. I must say this is a big shock to me. Has East Carter had players injured that are just now coming back. It just goes to show you that you can't compare scores. Elliott County beat East Carter by 17 last month, Ashland beats Elliott County by 31 earlier in the week, and now East Carter beats Ashland by 11 tonight. Go figure. Congrats to the Lady Raiders. I guess I bragged to much on Coach Bradley, and his assistants to Coach Mark Litteral the other day. I'm sure the Kittens will bounce back strong.

The Lady Raiders just got down and guarded tonight. Tenacious defense according to some who were there. I was not able to attend, I did a KCU double header on the air tonight.

East won by a nice margin against a very good Kitten team. You would think that this meant that East played really well all the way around...think again. It is hard telling how many turnovers the lady Raiders had. I would guess more than 25. But they did play hard on D and shot pretty well when they didn't turn it over. Congrats to the girls from East. Strange game but a big win!

Is this Ashland's only region loss so far?

Yes

This after some Kitten fans were warming up the bus for Diddle. Disappointing loss however Bradley will have them ready for what lies ahead. This may be good for Ashland...a little wake-up call if you will!

No matter....Rowan's going to Diddle

You may be right Dfenz. I have seen Rowna play many times this year and I agree they are the #1 team in the region right now. But any real basketball fan knows that ANYTHING can happen during tourney time. And I don't mean that Ashland will be the team going to Diddle. Several teams could get hot in the home stretch. East proved that just the other night.

By the way, how many times have you seen the Rowan girls play this year? Just curious because it seems you know something that the rest of us don't.

Haven't seen them at all (live too far away) - just been following the season through the scores and Rowan has been the 16th's best from the get-go. Ashland seems to have a good team but a step below Rowan...compare outcomes from key common opponents - Mason County (Rowan defeated twice), Russell, East Carter and Boyd County. Plus, Rowan's outside of the 16th schedule is fiercely more difficult than Ashland's (or any team in the region, for that matter).

Rowan's only let-down in region play was the overtime win over Morgan. I can guarantee you the gal that hit for 33 for Morgan in that game will not see those kind of numbers if the two hook up again. She single-handidly almost pulled the upset for the Lady Cougars.

Yes, anything can happen...but I don't see it this year.

Crafty vetrean like Coach Easterling is always dangerous this time of year!
