KHSAA board blasts LCA for improper aid to athletes

Ol Coach....Would you feel the same way if your son was a senior star on the squaky clean basketball team and an assistant coach, without knowledge of the head coach, committed a minor violation that got the program in trouble. It might cost your son a chance for a scholarship when his coach was totally innocent. Sometimes you have to think before you type.

But that isn't the case here ...

Yes, I would feel the same way. How does banning a team from post season play cost a college scholarship?

Not only would I ban them from post season, the players that were not involved would be granted a one time transfer if they wish.

Christian school along with a good academic program would IMO be the best educational opportunity.

I don't know of anyone that cares who got the assistance or what their ethnic heritage is. Bottom line ... it appears that some people were throwing money around to steer some good athletes to LCA. That's what people are ticked about.

Well I guess that answers my question on what is more important! Winner of a sporting event vs. better education for a student.

Hey, they can go to LCA for any reason they want to ... no one wants to deny them that opportunity. But if they participate in athletics, there are rules to which they must abide.

I'm curious ... did this "financial aid" program also include funds for non-athletes? If so, fine. If not, maybe there are some LCA supporters that have decided that sports are more important than education.
