Empty Spots for 16th Region Teams?

I respect him for providing a place for the area standouts to play. Lord knows there should be more people trying to do the same. I would just like to see him put a little more emphasis on developing skills. Just because games may supersede practice, that doesn't mean teaching can't take place. We can't expect these players to "prepare yourself" because like it or not, they are still kids. No disrespect, because like I said he does have the right idea, but perhaps Mr. Lewis should get some more skilled coaches to help, it might make a difference.
They're teenagers, not kids. If the only time players practice or work on developing their skills, is when a Coach has practice, then they're not self-motivated or truly passionate about the game.

Some of the best practice, can be "alone" time, working on tee, pitching mechanic windups, catcher drills, baserunning stances, outfield footwork and I could go on.

At the age when Coach Lewis gets them, it's the players obligation to practice and refine their skills. A little less fumes (perfumes and car fumes) and cellphone/video games, would help in most cases.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I do agree they must be self-motivated and work on things on their own, but just because they are elite players, rather it be high school or college, that doesn't mean they don't have things to learn or flaws in their game that need addressed. Also, structure should be there when it comes to player behavior and composure, which is very questionable with his teams at times.

Legion teams, are assembled to play and try to practice, when they can. Players in college, are expected to condition, train and prepare on their own time. They are allocated a minimum amount of hours, to which instruction is available.

This is the same, with High School age players. Often driving to and from games. Coaches often have jobs or obligations, they have to meet also. Parents can't always get off in the middle of a day, to take players to practice.

Any player has aspects, which need improving. They must hold themselves accountable, for their own player development and not lay the blame on a Legion coaching staff. There is a reason, they were invited to play. They co through a HS practice season, which starts Feb. 15th, play games, District/Regional possibly and then begin play in May/June.

Those players who approach Legion seriously, will work on improving on their own time and when an official practice, is available. Attitude and conduct, is a reflection of the player and what he typically does. When I see a player, throwing his helmet, yelling out loud or blowing off his teammates, it's not the Coach but himself and those who allowed this behavior, prior to joining a Legion team.

I don’t agree with everything coach Lewis does on how he handles some of the player conflicts. I will say it is very difficult to keep elite players and parents happy all summer. All players were stars on their high school team and now they are working for a position again. Coach Lewis does a good job at promoting and getting players seen from our area. He and his assistant coaches volunteer a lot of time to this team and give most of their summer to it. I do enjoy watching Post 76 and hope it continues to be a competitive team in the Tri-state.

Do any of the 16th Region teams have any Basketball players that will make their Baseball Roster?

I know East will have some, as well as Rowan County.

I heard Boyd did not keep any of their Basketball players, what about Greenup, do they have some quality baseball players that are still playing Basketball?

I know Raceland has Martin and Boyles that will be playing Baseball when they get done with Basketball, not sure of the rest of their Basketball roster.

I think Craft for Greenup will be on the roster after Basketball.
