McCreary Central 75 Cumberland 71 OT

I would still like McCreary's chances. They didn't play well in the second half and still were able to win. I mean, you don't go up against another team by 18 points if you aren't in good. Like I said, I think the refs gave McCreary the benefit of the doubt in the first half, but Cumberland's "best player" did the fouls that he was called for. McCreary was faster and quicker to the ball and to the basket in the first half, and Cumberland's bigs couldn't keep up and they fouled in the post. You know that just as well as I do.

SSF we all know by now, your a expert in McCreary Sports. Please tell us what going on in the girls basketball program. What should we expect out on the Baseball and Softball fields in 2008?

Unless something happens and McCreary makes a run and wins the district championship or something - which the chances are slim to none - then they'll probably be a new coach next season, a year after Waters was handed the position. There was several people who interview and wanted to interview for the position at McCreary because there is a huge chance to succeed with the amount of students there. From my understanding, the coach or a coach from the Danville area wanted the job, but on two different occasions, the coach and school couldn't get a date to get the interview. The players have all but given up on this season, sadly. They finally won their first game of the year, and it may be the only one in the short stint of Waters.

Softball and baseball are a mystery to me. It all depends on who plays. As those two get closer, I can give you a better prediction.

Are you sure? By all accounts--especially yours, the Raiders are almost unbeatable at home and Cumberland played them even for 4 quarters. You do have to be pretty good to go up on a team by 18 but if you look at it that way don't they have to be pretty darn good to come back and outscore you by 18 the rest of the way? As far as that goes how about travel? You used that as a reason for the Raiders loss to Green County. According to Mapquest the trip from Cumberland to McCreary is almost an hour longer than McCreary to Green. And then Cumberland was playing out of Region, another reason for Green beating McCreary. It was a good win for McCreary but when you make excuses when the Raiders lose you should also take those same reasons into account when they play another team at McCreary. If your reasons for McCreary losing on the road are indeed valid then the other teams reasons would be also--therefore Cumberland would probably beat McCreary at Cumberland and since they took the Raiders to OT at McCreary would probably be favored on a neutral site--if your reasoning for the Raider's losses are valid--correct?

I'm sure they have reasons they lost as well. Cumberland might win on a neutral site, but I will still take my chances. I didn't mean for the travel to be an excuse. I have no idea what actually went wrong... maybe they just got beat fair and square.

Very well said sir.

Making excuses for losing is ridiculous. Trying to justify a loss accomplishes nothing. I think you take the loss and try to learn from it and try to not let the same mistakes beat you twice. I don't know what happened to the Raiders when they lost to Green Co. because I wasn't there. But I do think you have to show up to play every night to play and if you don't you can get beat by anyone. I am with SSF on the Raider's chances against this team if they were to meet on a neutral floor. The Raiders were quick enough inside to cause the big guys from Cumberland fits. Granted we didn't have an answer to Desmond Johnson on the inside and he was what really got them back in the game in the second half.
