49th District Draw

Featured Replies

Jackson Co is about half the size of Clay or North..........

It's not like JC has only 50 boys to choose from. This group going through now was supposed to be the "up" group that had a chance to win a region, so there's no call to play the "poor little us" card.

The sad thing is that JC coach wants to seed but has no say in it, the principal and AD made the decision.

According to KHSAA Jackson Co. has around 350 boys in their school. In comparison Corbin has 310. They are not that small of a school.

Thats such a joke, Clay Co plays a good season and beats North and Jackson and what do they get in return they have to play NOrth plus they have to play a second game..

The draw is Such a jOKE!

I think the coaches of the distirct made the decision to draw 2 or 3 years ago. Does anyone know the 49th distirct location(what school will host the 49th this season).

Clay and North I think both have around 1,100 to 1,200 students.

And 350 boys would put Jackson at about 700 students. That is not that big of a difference when you are talking about basketball with 12-15 varsity players.

Heres a question about the the state of Jackson county's program. How many freshman games have they played this year and how many freshman games have they won in the last three years. I am not taking up for them but from what I hear they can't get enough players to have a freshman team. I also heard that they have just one one freshman game in the last three years. So, has anybody ever thought that the reason they draw is that they have looked down the road and seen the future to not look that bright and decided to do the best thing for there kids and not worry about what everybody else thought about them. Just a thought! There KHSAA roster shows them to have 9 seniors, 2 juniors, 2 sophmores, 3 freshman. They would've had 10 seniors but one of them went down with a knee before the season started and is out for the year.

I dont care how you look at it, I think the draw is unfair and is just wrong!

You're making a weak attempt at trying to rationalize Jackson County wanting to draw. How could voting to draw be doing the best thing for your highly talented 9 seniors? Please explain. On second thought, please don't try, there is no reasonable explanation.:irked:

Amen, Skinpig.

Do they vote every year whether to seed or draw?

What a joke.

Blind draw = dumb luck

:thumb:Amen! Better lucky than good!

I'm sure a representative from either Clay or Laurel makes a motion to vote every year.

They do vote every year at the annual meeting but the motion was actually made by the Red Bird AD and the OBI representative seconded the motion to draw. And the JC AD completed the vote to draw.
