Walton Verona 71 Williamstown 56

Featured Replies

WV's zone offense was better than what it had been in the past. Knew Heeger could shoot the ball, but Sargent is very streaky. She was on a hot streak last night. Willimastown did a poor job of blocking out at times which led to many 2nd chance points. That along with their defense were the keys to their win IMO. With a little luck, maybe we will see them again in the district.

How many games have you watched Walton play this year?

There are plenty of games, where the Coach lost them for us. Sure she's young and still learning, but you don't understand everything that's going on at Walton. There's more to it than just the game plan's and etc. It's off the court, communication, respect, issues that aren't taken care of. It's a lot of other stuff than just win and losses that upset us/parents.

Tonight she (Coach) got it done on the court. And so did the players. If you read my above post, it talks about our loss to Trimble in the "All A" and where they packed in the zone and coach never put in our shooters, and then cost us the game. She learned from that mis-take and fixed it tonight, and Walton had 9 Three's or so. It's not just winning and losing, there's a lot of issues that go on, that I sure you don't know about. Which upsets us.

Tonight she let the girls play and they came away with a win. She sub'd early against Holy Cross and hurt our chances to win, when we didn't need to sub. The line-up was working. Tonight, like I said, she let the girls that were in play, and gave us an early ten point lead, which grew to twenty. Things like that upset us when we lose games because of many errors, which a varsity coach shouldn't do. IMO All I know is that the girls played like a team tonight, got it done and need to keep rolling.

I love it.....every loss is the coach's fault and every win is because the players stepped up. Obviously there are some issues surrounding the girls basketball program which i believed will get addressed in due time but is there a need to have to hear the same thing over and over again after ever game?

Has the coach made mistakes..sure she has. Have the players been 100% committed to what they are supposed to be doing...no they haven't. The fault lies with both parties! It doesn't help the players, team, school or community to continuously read the same crap posted by some of the same people. Everyone just step up, tighten up your belt, quit pointing fingers and figure out a way to make things better.

btw, good win versus Williamstown.

It was known how to make it better a year ago, but it didn't happen.

I feel she let the girls play because they were making the plays. Their upper classmen stepped up and made the plays. The 8th graders were not in the game a whole lot. Ginn fouled out rather quickly. I think she found it hard to guard Stith.

If WV continues to play solid defense, they could have a very good end of the year.

Could'nt said it better myself

Agreed. The issue's were addressed and never got taken care of. Plan and simple. Good win for WV though. Keep it up! :thumb:

Okay. I understand what you are saying, but C-Town is right, the issues were addressed last year, did they fix the issues, let me think, no. It's upsetting. And I don't get how you don't understand that? C-Town said it prefect in their post. Read that, you got my opinion.

Walton girls, Keep it up. Seniors you have only a few games left, that is it. Make the best of it and finish strong. You just got to believe. Good luck to Williamstown in the district, and keep it up WV.

Getting back to the game. Walton is deeper and has more talent than Williamstown. The game was never really close. But, I do think on any given night Williamstown could play with, or even beat Walton. I personally think Williamstown plays the right way and does a lot of things right, they are just limited by numbers. Stith had a great game, what made it most impressive was she never touched the ball with her left hand. It amazes me how Walton plays defense at times. They will either get beat with the right hand or foul. Here is a thought, "make someone go left once in a while, and do it without fouling." If I had a dollar for everytime Walton's defense has been split by a dribbler, I could retire after this season.

For Williamstown to be more successful, West must play more consistent and take care of the ball. She has alot of talent and needs to be the floor leader. She needs to slow down and let the game come to her. They are relying too much on Stith to do all the scoring. Would also like to see Wilhoit scoring more to take some of the pressure off of Stith. If West and Wilhoit can contribute more, they will have a shot at beating Walton in the districts if that is who they draw.

I agree, West and Wilhoit need to put more points on the board. Both struggled with their shooting. If Williamstown stays away from SK, the re-match could be a good one with a big emphasis on could.

On a side note, with everything I had been hearing, I expected more out of the middle school players from Walton than what I seen. I hardly remember them on the floor very much during the game. Gin barely was on the floor before fouling out. The other guard looked a little intimidated by the rough play that both teams were dishing out. They are just middle schoolers and an intense game like the teams were playing can make them look like middle schoolers IMO.

The players never lose and the coach never wins what a horrible conundrum to be a part of this program where no one can do anything right. I have seen Walton play a couple of games and I do think they have good talent, it just can't always be the coach. I would like to see Walton step up and win their district. I think it would be a great thing, but some of you on here are a cancer to your program and just don't realize it. I know if you have kids involved it becomes more personal for you, but surely you have to realize that in the end your only hurting the players you care about with your constant complaining.

I agree. I've said this along. Yes, the coach has made some mistakes and will make more but that's part of the learning process. I believe we all make mistakes and learn from them.

Agreed!

West struggled in this game. She threw herself into the defense a few times & was forcing passes. She was ill for a few moments as well. Not herself this game.

Yeah, I thought I saw her by a trash can a one point. She is a solid player and has good talent. She just wasn't herself. Agreed!
