February 5, 200818 yr Republican Mike Huckabee scored the first Super Tuesday victory, winning all 18 delegates at stake in West Virginia. 1 of 3 The former Arkansas governor won with the support of 52 percent of the state's GOP convention delegates on the second round of balloting. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in second with 47 percent of the vote, and Sen. John McCain was backed by 1 percent of the delegates. February 5, 200818 yr Author Got ya... More info about West Virginia, per cnn.com Republicans, at least on the presidential level, have appealed to the socially conservative state based on a combination of hot-button issues such as abortion and gun control. In a state that still depends, at least in part, on the coal industry, Republicans have also tapped into voters' concerns over the role of the environment in the national Democratic Party. The state's union movement remains a relatively strong force, in large part due to West Virginia's coal-mining heritage http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/02/supertuesday.guide/index.html?iref=mpstoryview
February 5, 200818 yr While this helps Huckabee, it helps McCain even more. This shows apparently that Huckabee is pulling some Romney votes. While they split the conservatives; McCain will get the independents & moderate republicans. After seeing this headline, I pretty much am 99.9% sure McCain will be the nominee

My understanding that McCain told his people in WV to support Huckabee in order to torpedeo Romney. This stuff stinks to high heaven.
February 5, 200818 yr This pretty much confirms what has been pretty obvious for awhile. Huckabee is running to block Romney and to give McCain the nomination. I wonder what is in it for Huck?
February 6, 200818 yr In Georgia I think it was, the polling results indicated that Huckabee's supporters 2nd choice was McCain and NOT Romney. CNN was surprised at that but you guys in P & R weren't as us Huckabee supporters have been telling you for weeks that wasn't the truth. Remember, you don't need CNN to tell you guys things, come to us Huck supporters. We know what is going on.

February 6, 200818 yr My understanding that McCain told his people in WV to support Huckabee in order to torpedeo Romney. This stuff stinks to high heaven. Yep. I was torn between who to support between Romney and Huckabee, but I have zero respect for him or McCain now. Romney will be getting my vote.

February 6, 200818 yr I didn't even know they did either.... HHSDAD HOW???? :creepy: Its not a primary. It's a caucus, so they can play all kinds of games with the delegates. 30 total delegates* 18 tied to February 5 state convention; 9 tied to May 13 primary; 3 unpledged RNC member delegates Todays winner gets all 18 delegates.
