Did Huckabee even bother to visit California? New York? New Jersey? If so, I missed it. Huckabee campaigned almost exclusively in the south and he and McCain did a good job avoiding being in the same place. Romney has waged a national campaign and has the money to continue. Huckabee does not. He was done after South Carolina.

 

Says alot for a Romney campaign that he will lose at least 5 states that has no money and was done after South Carolina.

 

It seems Huckabee might have just been showing the lack of a chance that Romney truly has.

 

If he cannot beat a candidate that you say has no money and was done two primaries ago, NO WAY he can take on Obama and/or Hillary. Best for the Republicans that Huckabee justs beats him now instead of learning in November that Romney was not the candidate to win the South and keep the White House.

AND AGAIN. The exit polls in Florida said that Huckabee supporters in the South said their 2nd choice was McCain NOT Romney. THAT is being overlooked as everyone is assuming that Huckabee supporters will go to Romney. But those of us on here have told you guys that was not true.

In all this debate, let's not forget that people lost their lives tonight to tornadoes in Arkansas.

I think in this race, he has every right to stay in this race through tonight. His strength is in some of the states that cast their delegates tonight.

I'm told that Romney led on the first ballot but hasn't locked down the majority he needs. Paul has fallen off the ballot, and his supporters could decide it. McCain is still on the ballot, but his people are going with Huckabee, to try to give him the win in the second round. Paul's people could be the ones to decide it.

Well, that would certainly be a first.

 

1:10PM: In Charleston, W. Va., right now, 1,200 county delegates are duking it out for the state's 18 convention delegates. In the first roll of the vote, however, no candidate received the requisite majority, although Romney got as high as 41%, which means they'll vote again shortly.

Sounds like what happened is what Romney said happened to me.

It is still early but Huckabee leads in Missouri. And Missouri has gone to 25 of the last 26 Presidents. It has only been wrong once in the general election. And in the primary, still early though, Huckabee is leading it.

HUH??? One of the stations has called Huck the winner in Alabama?

 

And now he is leading in Minnesota.

 

South Carolina was a major blow no doubt. And finishing a disappointing 4th in Florida was too.

Great point on Romney is being made. You guys call him a national contender and Huckabee is only an evangelical candidate but Fox has just pointed out that Romney has won nothing but home states and high in Mormon population states.

 

They made the point that Romney HAS to win one of the big 3 states to night to show he is a national contender. He lost New Jersey to McCain, losing MO to Huckabee, ALTHOUGH it is early and can he beat McCain in California.

 

Romney may be the true special interests candidate rather than Huckabee. His support has come from Utah, Michigan and Massachusetts. THe only exception is Nevada and Wyoming which is not a major player on the scene.
