Did you even read my post? Obviously not, as we have another post knocking the big kid.

 

Dixie didn't lose this game with their frontcourt, it was lost by their backcourt, period. The backcourt players had 16 turnovers in 16 minutes in the first half, and it could have been more. Dixie got bailed out of jail for free with some tough calls against Holmes on would be turnovers.

 

I'm not knocking the kid. I simply stated that he was a non factor in the game. I was there, and I know the guards were the ones who had all the turnovers.

 

But last time I checked doesn't a team lose as a team? While you can blame the backcourt all you want, it was a team effort. When guards are being trapped all over the floor, the big men (front court) need to come up and help out. Once again I'm not bashing anyone. Simply stating that they lost as a team. When your offense is struggling thats when your defense needs to turn it up a notch which Dixie obviously didn't do last night.

Arrez was in foul trouble midway through the first quarter which is why he sat practically the whole game. Anyone who thinks Arrez can't score, well you don't know basketball. When Arrez came back in the game, Holmes was up 20 points, so why would he need to score? Dixie pulled within 14 and Arrez had 5 straight points to give the Dawgs more cushion.

 

If there is no need for him to score, why be selfish when he can penetrate and help his teammates out and get them easy baskets?

You want to bash one guys productivity (Mace), but then give the other (Henderson) a free pass. If you know the game, why would you do that?

 

Was Mace suppossed to break the press, then pass it to himself on the low block?

 

Henderson plays with a talented cast, but it is his senior year, shouldn't he be scoring more often than he typically does if he can?

2. He took only 2 shots from the field finishing with 5 points. The kid averages 18 a game and has finished in double figures in every game except this one and the HC game. (9 points). I believe thats knowing how to score.

 

3. I never said Mace was supposed to do everything on his own. And in the second half Dixie came out and gave Mace the ball 5 or 6 straight times which he converted to just 2 points. I am simply saying for those crying about Dixie not having everyone and that Mace played 3 and a half quarters and was ineffective so don't try to say had Dixie had all their players, this and that, they would have won. Holmes was clearly the better team.

 

4. Arrez played probably 10 minutes less than Mace, but still managed to have better stats. (Henderson- 5 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks-one coming on Mace...Mace- 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 for 7 from the line)

 

The bottom line is this...Both are very talented players and maybe Mace jsut had an off night. I have only seen him 3 times, so I'm assuming thats what it was. But to say Arrez can't score? you've obviously only seen him one time and that being against Dixie.

That is a question for coach Henley to answer as to why bring in Henderson when they're up 20. I'm not positive but I believe Dixie had started chipping in to the lead, but still Holmes had a comfortable lead.

 

But I looked up the stats and Arrez was 1 for 2 from the field with that one field goal being a 3 pointer. His miss was another 3 pointer. The only other shot he took was a drive in which he scored but was called for an offensive foul. Thats 3 shots but not too sure they counted the third one as even being attempted since he got called for an offensive foul. He was 2 for 2 from the line.

100% correct. He's not Kobe Bryant like, you can see when he plays that he doesnt mind not scoring a point as long as they win the game. When they played Campbell he gave the ball up and when they needed shots, guess what, he knocked them down. He scores when they need it and gives it to teammates when they don't.

Exactly what I was trying to tell Sandman. Against Covcath he did the same thing. As long as they are winning he isn't going to worry about scoring unless he is wide open with nobody around him.
