Owsley county returns everyone from last year except Trey Congleton and his brother. They just have to develop a pitcher that can be consititant.

Going to be an interesting season in the 14th. A few teams are going to be young, while teams that most didn't see coming are going to be good.

 

I know that Knott Central and JBS are going to be young. Unless anybody comes out that hasn't played before on both teams, both teams will consist, mostly of sophomores and juniors.

 

KCC will have more sophomores. I have heard that a couple of seniors may show up at tryouts. Pitching is going to be Knott's achille's heal this season. Some of the players were on the football team this past season, and have been working hard in the gym all Winter.

 

JBS has Evan Potter joining them this season. He injured his arm during basketball and should be ready to go by February 15th. He's a much needed tool for this team. JBS does have pitching and I think they will be better than most think.

Hazard should be one of the favorites in the region this season. They return a load of talent just in the junior class alone. Coach Meehan and the Dawgs haven't been to the region is a couple years and I am sure he will have them ready to go.

Letcher Central is probably the favorite coming in as the defending region champions. Coach Dean is a great coach and finally got that regional title. I am sure LCC will come out with fire in their eyes wanting to repeat.

Under Coach Varnry, Powell will always be a contender for the 14th Region Title. THey missed out on the tournament last season which means they will be even more hungry this season.

Estill Co. went in as the favorite last season and slipped up in the first round. I look for them to be in the mix again this season.

PCC lost a lot of players from last season, but don't ever count Coach Dixon and the Commodores out. Seems that is when they are the most dangerous. They won the region a couple years ago when no one thought they had a chance.

Leslie Co.'s athletic program has taken a beaten this season losing some great players in the past 2-3 seasons. Coach Melton is a good coach and I am sure will have his team ready to go by tournament time.

Hazard, to me, is the team to watch for. They did lose a few players, but return a lot. And they are in one of the two toughest districts in the 14th. Hazard, Perry Central, and Leslie are all good teams.

 

Estill is the other team to watch. They have a tough schedule and return some very good players. Estill is in the other, tough, district along with Lee and Powell.

I think the winner comes from the 54th or 56th. Estill, Powell, PCC and Hazard have the kids to win. You can't count out LCC but I still feel it will come from one of the 2 districts.

I agree with this. Estill, Powell, Perry, Hazard, and LCC have to be the top 5 teams heading into the season. Not only do they have the kids to win, but they each have great coaches as well.
