John Clayton said this might happen a week ago because Jim Caudwell has always been the Indy coach in waiting. I think Jim just figured, even if he has to wait a couple of seasons, he still gets Peyton Manning and the Colts rather than trying to rebuild the Falcons.

I think Jim just figured, even if he has to wait a couple of seasons, he still gets Peyton Manning and the Colts rather than trying to rebuild the Falcons. :thumb: That's how I'd view it if I were in his position...although, if Dungy stays a couple more years, a lot can happen in that time...who's to say injuries and departures of players and coaches wouldn't change the dynamic so much that the Colts would want to bring in someone new. It's still a risk to make the decision to wait. I think I'd take the chance though, if I were him...especially if the Falcons was my only option.

January 19, 200818 yr If Dungy retires the NFL loses one of its classiest coaches ever. Thats really all I can knowingly say about the Colts at this time.
