Rules question

Featured Replies

I have two questions related to overtime. In overtime, can the defense return the ball for a score? In the 6A final, when Trinity intercepted the ball in overtime, Sims covered the ball and dropped to the ground, as he should have. Could he have attempted to return the ball for a score?

The second question is, does the play end on the change of possession? If Sims attempted to advance the interception and fumbled (think Ky - Clemson or Ky - Florida State) could the ball have been recovered by X either for a touchdown if in the endzone or a new first down if out?

1. No-Unlike college, as soon as the ball is turned over the ball is dead and the team getting the take away starts first and goal on the 10.

2. As soon as the ball changes possession the play is over. The officials should blow it dead at that time regardless of what the person taking the ball does.

These may be the current rules.

I have seen an interception returned for a touchdown in a high school game and an intercept fumbled with the offense retaining possession.

These were both in the early 90's.

?

Actually he should of dropped the ball so X could of given the ball to Deuce 2 more times like they should of ( 6.2 per carry)or throw it wide like they scored two touchdowns!!! Sorry, I am still recovering!!!How happy is LSU Rock looking down with Trinity and LSU winning this year against my Tiggers and Buckeyes. He is missed. I am sure he has looked for broadband in his new location just to chime in.

YOu bet he is. He is helping out the Rocks and Tigers (the ones from Bayou country that is ) as much as he ever did. Too bad he wasn't down here with us to enjoy it. Guess he's got some new friends.

Plus the Packers are now just 120 minutes away.

In OT...

A change of possession will kill the play, and also ends the series for Team A. Team B will get possession at the 10 yardline, or if team B is leading on the scoreboard, the game is ended.

I am hopeful LSUROCK isn't sweating too much:devil:

Spoke to a family member last night, he is sorely missed.

Overtime in post season has been good for the Shamrocks as they are now 8-0.
