Jocketty's been around for months, whether it's official today or not, he's been here this whole time.

 

HSSB said it months ago and I have zero reason to doubt him.

I'm offering possible reasons, while he may be removed like HSSB stated, even though not till January.

 

He may have been meeting with Management but hiring on an official capacity, will allow complete evaluation of the entire organization.

I honestly think they want to keep Wayne in the organization, just in another capacity. Maybe that's still being ironed out...

 

I think Jocketty takes Allen's place.

 

Phil Castellini and Doug (can't recall last name) have taken over Allen's responsibilities. Phil was just officially named COO. Walt will eventually be taking over Wayne's responsibilities.

He does know how to find pitching talent, and always had a good bullpen in St. Louis.
