2 male Elliott parents/fans were extremely rude Monday night against Russell as well. It is my understanding that they were yelling directly at Coach Kidwell by name and even accused Russell of having the 2 officials in their "hip pocket". Very classless in my opinion. Weren't there parents from Elliott that wanted to leave the stands last year at boys games as well? It is my understanding that the comment was made at the Rowan game that people shouldn't mess with certain individuals because, "we are Sandy Hook". Boasting about that type of classless behavior from adults is really something to be proud of. I'm sure the majority of Sandy Hook is embarrassed by those "adults".

I find it amazing that Elliott Co. fans are the only ones that are ever "out of hand" I have been around the 16th region for many years and can tell you that EVERY school has fans that sometimes go a little to far. Again, I stress that when games are emotional, most people say or do things they they would not normally say or do. Please keep in mind that this happens everywhere and should not be an attack slanted at Elliott Co.'s fans.

Let's get back to discussing this game.

Yes, I was there. An RC player was hurt and an EC fan was yelling inappropriately while she was down. One of the RC parents said that was enough and the EC fan wanted to fight. Needless to say they wasn't talking much when they were down by 20.

 

I was there also, sitting close enough to hear exactly what was said on the Elliott County side. The "inappropriate" comment after the Rowan player was down was "That's what happens when you let the game get out of hand" and was directed solely, I felt, to the referee/s. Then the Rowan fan (and I wasn't on that side of the gym so I couldn't say 100 percent sure) said "sit down and shut up" to the Elliott fan. Next were "why don't you come over here and make me". I'm pretty everyone can figure out where things went after that. Also, when Barr scored her 1000th point, all the Elliott fans, including me, around my area clapped for her. I did not hear a single boo from Elliott's side. I know we are back to discussing the game, but I just felt this needed to be cleared up. I will not respond to any negative comments hereafter in this post, since I'm not looking forward to having my account suspended and am not trying to "stir things up", just stating the facts to the best of my ability.

lol! It's always funny when teams have some success how some people are quick to forget. The Lady Vikes were ranked 3rd in most polls behind Ashland and east, and David Patrick had them 4th behind Morgan County.

Ms Barr was cheered by the EC team and Coaching staff. The game ball was not given because Rowan did not bring one. Elliott showed class in that they allowed the game to be stopped and recognized her on this great achievement. I was at the game as well and can tell you that anyone who bought a ticket saw two very good teams playing their hearts out. What happens in the stands unfortunately occurs without any doing of either school. The fans on both sides are very passionate and unfortunately things were said that probably shouldn't have been. Rowan is a GREAT team and fun to watch. Should be noted that Elliott lost this game in the 2nd quarter when the point guard for Elliott went to the bench with her 3rd foul.(40 seconds left in the 1st quarter) and did not return until the 3rd quarter. Hope to see this match up again soon.:dancingpa

Also, the fans were VERY RUDE when Nicole Barr scored her 1000th point. Some booed and some waved their hands and said whatever. As far as I know they didn't even give her the game ball, but I could be wrong.

 

Since when do we need to recognize everytims someone scores a 1000 points. Maybe acknowledge the feat at a dead ball but it is not Elliot County's place to give her the game ball. Let Rowan County make a presentation at their place if they want to.

I disagree. The achievement of scoring 1000 points is a huge occassion for a high school player. I agree that the school of the player being recognized should provide the ball (this is usually the case). At the next home game, the announcer usually does tell the home crowd of the player's achievement, but it is not as exciting for the player as when he/she recieves the ball at the instant it happens.

 

Most schools in the 16th are cordial enough to grant this request from a visiting team. If they don't want to cooperate, then the visiting team's coach should accept the decision graciously. Personally, I think it shows real class when a coach or AD is willing to do something this nice for an opposing team's player.

I've been to many, many basketball game and I have never seen the team someone scores their 1000 point against :confused: present them the game ball.

I have...it's a ceremonial thing, and the visitors usually reimburse the school, or replace the ball.

Actually in most cases the visiting team brings a ball with them to replace the game ball. If they forget they will borrow one and replace it later.
