jonathan.fraysure Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I wanted to do a comparison on the Cantrall thread for both of these newspaper ratings, and happened upon the new ratings today. HOMELESS CAMEL Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Being a Royal fan it's frustrating to see that, BUT I have to agree. Ratings look good, but there is no way I would put Elliott Co in the top 10. If Cov Cath is a borderline top 10 team and they dominated Elliott, that's the only problem I have with it. Elliott will get their shot in the All A, they run the table in that tournament, fine, they can be a top 5 team.
McLegend24 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Elliott is too high, the only top team they have played, Cov. Cath, definitely outplayed them they are borderline top 10. As HC said they will have their chance to prove themselves.
sidelinecoach Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I do not think Cov Cath dominated them. It was within 6 late in the 4th. Yes I would say they are top 10 maybe around 10 or so & so is Cov Cath.

OYPreps Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 A lot of games will determine these rankings over the next week or so. The rankings could be headed for some real shake-ups.
FANOFTHE11th Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I wouldn't say dominated either.... but they were def. the better team that night!I was at the game and the reason Cov Cath won that night was because they took care of the ball (as they typically do) and shot better as a team from the field. If you look at the shot chart link that was posted on the game thread, most of Cov Cath's shots made were inside the paint (many were layups as the result of beating Elliott's press). Best I recall Elliott shot 7 for 26 from three, and Cov Cath was 6 for 12 from three. Cov Cath won by 14 and was the better team on that night. Since that is the only night they have played it would make sense that Cov Cath be ranked higher.

sidelinecoach Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Cov Cath is a very good defensive team but it is not the big reason they beat Elliott. Its just as Fanofthe11th & Bogeyman said "they took care of the ball" & did a tremendous job I might add. Their point gaurd is very good as he was the key! EC scores so much off their press & trapping "D" but CC simply did not let that happen. EC had open looks in the 1st Q especially & they just didn't fall. Congrats to CC
BogeyMan Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 No argument here. They should be ranked higher. They have proven it on the floor. Just shows why all ranking systems that we have are flawed...but it does give us something to talk about.
knightsdad Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Elliott is an excellent team but I don't think they match up well with Bryan Station or Scott County. Either of these teams would probably win big because they handle the ball well, are very quick and have strong inside games. I would put Elliott in the second ten.
