Joe Gibbs out in Washington

Featured Replies

Of course, I don't have any sources, no flight logs, no wire transfers, but I have a gut feeling that Cowher will be tops on that list in Wash. and the jaw resurfaces in the NFC.

I said before the season started that I thought Cowher would be Washington's next coach( I want to find that post). Not lets see if it really happens...

I keep reading that Cowher wants to stay out of football for at least another year, maybe longer. I don't see him coming back to coach Washington.

Gibbs did a great job this season. He brought this team back from sorrow to the playoffs a real draining season for team.

Williams will get the job. He has 1 million dollars coming his way if they hire somebody else. Cowher will not be coaching anywhere this next year. He has 2 daughters playing basketball at Princeton and another that will be a SR in high school next year. I think the Skins will give Williams the job and see how he does in a year. If it goes bad then the next year I could see Snyder throwing a lot of cash Cowher's way! I wouldn't be suprised to see Gibbs stay on and consult much like Parcells is in Miami.

It won't

Money talks and Snyder has plenty to throw around. Cowher saying no, just drives his price up. It may not happen, but I think it will...

Cowher is being linked to the job but he has stated many times that he wants to wait one more year. His two oldest daughters are playing basketball at Princeton and the youngest will be a Senior next year. I think he would like to see her the last year and see his other two daughters. Williams has a clause in his contract that he gets one million dollars if he isn't the next coach. That's chump change to Snyder but I think he might hire him for a year to see how it goes. If it goes bad then I think he would make a STRONG push for Cowher the next year. Pete Carroll is also being mentioned a lot. I don't think Pete would go to ATl but I think he would be intrigued by Wash. In the end I think he will stay at USC though.

I said before not to be suprised if Gibbs didn't get a roll like Parcell's has in Miami. It was announced today or yesterday that he has in fact been hired on as a consultant. That makes me think that Williams might get the job because they have a solid working relationship.

Joe Gibbs was a great coach, no doubt abut it. What imo made him really great was that he was a Christian man, would say that and he always handled himself in that manner and with class. Pro Football will miss him. Men like Gibbs and Tony Dungee do not come around near enough.

That clause doesn't exist for Williams. That would be against the rules.

It does so I guess it's not. I've heard them say that there is a chance that Dallas would do the same thing for Jason Garrett too.

Mortenson reported that there was a clause like that and then the next minute reported that he was wrong. The Redskins called to tell him there was no clause.

Also read that the Redskins radio reported that there was no clause.

I'm not going to say I'm 100% because I haven't seen his contract with my own eyes but I've heard several different media outlets say there was a deal like that. I've also heard some of the experts with front office experience talk about how Dallas could do that with Jason Garrett. I don't know who is right or wrong on this one. I've heard it was in there, you've heard it wasn't. Neither of us have seen it so who knows. The people I've heard it from were always credible but I'm not doubting what you saw.

Cowher and Carroll are the big names there but it will be interesting to see what happens.
