Way to go Lady Bears.

West Jessamine is 3-8, and has been blown out by over 40 twice. I don't think I would call that a good team.

I say "2-CLAPS" for Molly.

Its because URIT is suspended. :sssh:

Congrats to the lady bears. From what I have heard they have been getting some good play off the bench and have had a few good games in a row. Even the loss to Ryle was not to bad of a game

Let's see what they do Thrusday. If they play Harrison close or beat them, I'd say they have turned the corner. Harrison is somewhat down this year, but still in the top 5 or 6 in the region, and could give Bracken a better measuring stick than W. Jessamine.

They can play with Brossart if they played the way they did against W. Jessamine. I was impressed with their style of play. They seemed to favor an up tempo style, which is not only exciting to watch, but it looked like they were having fun doing it. People said to give them time to mature and mold this group, and I for one will be ANOTHER to say good job to the coaching staff and the team, and all of us are just waiting for that bug upset that you all deserve!

Up tempo play is the style these girls are best at. I enjoy watching them pressure the ball. Shooting has been a sore spot with Bracken's girls' teams for many years. But, as a whole, this team is aggressive and can earn alot of their buckets off turnovers they cause. I enjoy watching them get after the ball--pressing and making it harder for the other team to get it down the floor. Coach Schultz has done a good job of keeping fresh legs in the game lately-- Even in the loss in their first tourney game Thursday, this team looked much better---hope things are coming together for this young group of ladies. Good luck in Cynthiana this week---keep your cool ;)

I hear they like it hot over there...

What happened to those Lady Bears? This one all HCHS. They do have some nice young atheletes, but are a long way from making a statement in the 10th region.

I was able to catch this game. The Lady Bears are making progress, but still a ways away from the upper level in the 10th. Having said that the Fillies will also not be able to compete with the top four or five teams in the tenth region. I saw a lot of selfish individual play. The guards can not get the ball to the open people on time and on target. One actually had problems crossing center court before she was breaking to the offensive bucket ( we use to call this snowbirding). Playing four on five on the defensive end will not work against the better teams. Seems like Coach Whitaker is having problems with defining roles for his players. Time will tell!

If you feel the snowbirding is a problem for a Coach Whitaker team, you are sadly mistaken and showing a lack of knowledge of the Fillies team. He has had a designated guard doing that for YEARS. It is a role on the team and one that he employs very often in the 2nd half of games. It is AN OFFENSIVE PLAY FOR THEM.

For those BC faithful that want to blame things on Coach Schultz, the difference in last night's game was simple. Harrison made shots. Bracken did not.

To be an elite team in the 10th region, you have to have players MAKE SHOTS. According to my scouting report, Bracken made their first outside shot with 4:31 left in the 2nd quarter.

Also, #31 looks good in warmups but did nothing in the game. She never fought for the ball and showed no signs in this game of playing hard. It seemed she posted and expected the ball cause she is a presence. But against a top team, you have to fight to WANT the ball and not expect it. She should nothing last night in wanting the ball and fighting Harrison County for position and the ball. Very disappointed in watching her play. Showed no desire last night. And sure looks like she should have the game to ba dominate presence. I expected more from her.

I LOVED their guards and the physical pressure they put on Harrison. LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT.

Also, did not Coach Kelsch could still jump so high. In fact, I don't remember him being able to jump high when he played. And yet when they didn't make a call in the JV game, the boy had hops.:D

Get real on this. Four girls playing defense against a Good team will not work. Just because he's done this for years doesn't make it right. And we all know who that designated guard was and the entire offense was built around her.

Just so you will have your facts correct on Coach Whitaker, for about 20 years, Harrison County Fillies NEVER made it to the Sweet 16. He has taken them twice I believe. I think he knows a little about coaching.

And obviously, you haven't watch the game. They play 5 on 5 defensively. When the shot goes up from the OUTSIDE, the guard that challenges the shot goes long. Hundreds of coaches employ the SAME TECHNIQUE.

Bracken as I said does have some nice young players, but I was also disappointed in #31. She didn't work to get the ball, and wouldn't work to get in rebounding position. Mac doesn't have his guard break early all the time. He calls it in the huddle or discusses it at half time. I'm sure it's in is game plan only against certain teams. It's the opponents job to stop it though. If I was the coach, I would have somebody back when the shot goes up. I know Mac and most coaches designate 1 guard to stay back. I'm surprised Coacch Schultz kept letting it happen.
