Bracken County Lady Bears

Bracken as I said does have some nice young players, but I was also disappointed in #31. She didn't work to get the ball, and wouldn't work to get in rebounding position. Mac doesn't have his guard break early all the time. He calls it in the huddle or discusses it at half time. I'm sure it's in is game plan only against certain teams. It's the opponents job to stop it though. If I was the coach, I would have somebody back when the shot goes up. I know Mac and most coaches designate 1 guard to stay back. I'm surprised Coacch Schultz kept letting it happen.

I didn't mean to imply that they break early all the time. I meant to imply he has done it for years.

And usually, it occurs in the 2nd half, more often than not. Especially, if he sees that the opponent is crashing the boards and not rotating anyone back.

Bracken has alot of good young talent but as a whole they are to SOFT.

I did not see that from the perimeter players. I thought they played physical, aggressive defense on the perimeter. They couldn't knock down shots but their defense was very good.

When I say soft it means fumbling the ball around after a little contact not finishing shots inside with contact. Yes perimeter defense is good.

Comment was meant for ridgerunner.

Now, that I can agree with. But that is learning to play on the varsity level. That contact does not usually happen on the freshmen level and if it does, it is called a foul. Varsity level, play on.

WHAT!!??? the young players play hard and the older players play soft!! GEE WIZ have you seen them play this year?? THe peremiter guarding is great but the inside isnt.

Not sure who you were addressing or who the young players are or the older players are.

Just know from my observation, that the guards played great defense last night but didn't knock down shots or finish plays offensively that would have opened up the inside game.

That said, the inside players did very little on either end. Coach Schultz had a good plan to attack Harrison's matchup and switching 2-3 zone at the FT line, but except for a handful of times, they did not hit the shot.

Get real on this. Four girls playing defense against a Good team will not work. Just because he's done this for years doesn't make it right. And we all know who that designated guard was and the entire offense was built around her.

MAC knows what he is doing! If you can run a girl out, and score easy...why not? It is up to the opposing coach to stop it by designating someone to get back on her. He would be crazy not to do it if the team will let him.

And let's add, the players responsibility to carry out the coach's plan to stop it.

I know from experience that what I ask them to do is not what they always end up doing on the floor. It might take me a few subs till I find someone that will.:D

I agree with you. I didn't see last nights game but have seen Bracken play. They usually get good effort from there younger players and the older players tend to watch and stand around too much. I would like to see them play with the same intensity that the younger girls do. You agree? The big girl has to demand the ball inside and get some boards for them to be successful.

As I said, I have no clue who is younger and who is older. I was disappointed that #31 didn't demand the ball inside instead of waiting for the defense to allow her to get open. Harrison's defense is not going to allow you to get open. As a result, 3 shot attempts only. And in addition, 3 rebounds TOTAL.

The comment I made was meant towards old and young players. And if you can't see that you haven't been to many games.

MY goodness. She is big enough to get a double double every game even if she is sick and a bad ankle. When she is healthy (assuming she is right now), she should get 10 offensive rebounds alone. She should get 10 points just on garbage points!

Just for future reference, it would be great to find another way to word that. Girls don't like to read about how big they are.:thumb:

But I agree, she should have the game to average a double-double.
