I've seen a few young ladies wrestle in Kentucky and honestly have only seen one (I believe from S. Oldham maybe 5 years ago) worth wasting any time training. One cryed everytime she came off the mat.

 

I do wish there were more wrestling teams in Kentucky. Its a great sport. I wish Ludlow had had one when I attended. I'm just glad Holmes had a team and a coach who really cared during the years my 3 boys wrestled.

Breathitt is getting approved for a westling team, its only a matter of time. Next year will be thier first year. Football doesnt have anything to do with it. We have some people in the community that is pushing alot. Arch wants money, so its gonna pass.

If football staff does not support the program, it will have a hard time surviving. Sounds great that it is going to get approved, I love hearing new teams pop up around the state. Do they have someone who will coach the team?

The head of the JROTC from Breathitt was a coach in South Carolina and won a few state chamionships is what he has said. His last name is Gilliam, I think. Not sure if I got the spelling of it right. Alot of the football players has expressed interest in wrestling.

Glad to hear another mountain school adding a wrestling program. I hope the football coaching staff understands how this could benefit their players.

Holcomb wont be at Breathitt to much longer. A year or two at the most so he really has no say in what goes on in Breathitt anymore. Its been said that he wont be the AD anymore and he is just gonna be the football coach. From what I have talked to about half the football team is gonna give it a shot, and see if they like it. It could help them out so much if they will stick with it.

The reason I stated this, is because I have seen some head coaches who are still coaching in the state refuse to let their players join the wrestling program. If the football staff supports the wrestling program it can flourish. With that being said, I wish Breathitt the best of luck!:thumb:

You didn't like the girl from Campbell County who placed in the state meet a year or two ago?

I expect both Madison Central and Scott Co., to have a team in the not too distant future.

 

In addition the best girl I have seen this year has been Quintessa Role a 103 from North Hardin.

 

Until Scott COunty changes football (possible competitors) AND basketball coaches (facilities), likely there is no need even mentioning that school and Wrestling in the same sentence.

I would like to see my school add wrestling. Very costly, though and space to adequately practice is a problem.

 

When I was in school our Practice Gym was he school cafeteria and a stairwell. Would get to use the weight room some and run on the track if the weather permitted. The gym was always used by the B-ball teams and winter track team. There is always a way to make due.

 

Unlike my brothers High School they had their own complete Gym just for the Wrestling team.
