Just a thought...it's that time of the year where many teams are traveling either in or out of the Bluegrass to play in tournaments...let's stay in the state...what school puts on the best tournament? Meaning competition level, fan turnout, hospitality, etc... any thoughts?:ylsuper:

Those are the first two that jump out at me, having never attended either, I couldn't answer any questions about them other than great competition each year.

The best one has to be the Marshall County Hoopfest. If you want to see some of the better teams in the state and the nation this is your best bet. The only negative is the location.

 

Then the 5/3 comes in a close second.

Isn't that more of a showcase, I mean the thread says TOURNAMENT!

 

You are right though, a lot of great teams featured this year.

Have been attending the LexCath 5th/3rd Holiday Classic for the last couple of years, and IMO you can't attend a better HS Tourney. Great teams, fair prices, and I have had a ball watching some of the best teams in the Commonwealth play back to back to back.....

The Country Music Holiday Tourney At Johnson Central is beginning to have some good team come to that.

Have to agree, both of these tournaments feature premier teams and players year in and year out.

The best is the 5th/3rd.

The next best is the Cumberland Falls Inv. for teams and the way it is run. The Varsity Club does a great job.

King of the Bluegrass at Fairdale is the best. They have excellent teams from instate and out of state each year.

As far as a small 8 school tourney you can't beat the Derby Classic at Raceland, the host school takes care of the visiting teams and the faciities are 1st rate and this year congrats to Fairview

5/3rd no longer sponsors this tournament, therefore there is a name change.

 

This tournament is now called The Lexington Catholic Holiday Classic.

Agreed and the crowds and excitement surrounding the event tops it off.

are there any special things at these tourneys other than the competition? I know that sometimes pool play turns into seeding for 1 and outs and so on. I just wish they would change the 4 games=1 to more, so that the tourneys could be even bigger. Perhaps 6 games=1 or something.

Hoopfest is awesome, but it is a showcase not a tournament. It is one of the best showcases and venues in the country!
