I don't know if the argument of they are offering free drinks to the women to entice males is a good one. It could be argued if you want to entice someone, you give THEM the free stuff instead of someone else free stuff and hope they come along with them.

I would say that if they have a ladies night then they should have a men's night. I see nothing wrong with that. I don't understand why places don't do it anyway. Seems like a simple solution to me.

Put limits on it....Maybe not make drinks free but have some other type of night that can be labeled men's night. I mean they don't have to give free drinks but make it something unique for men. There are ways to do it.

Yes, it is gender discrimination. But who cares? So a privately owned business wants to give out free drinks to women, or let the ladies in for free? Cool. Good for the women. If you don't like it, don't go or start your own nightclub. Is it discrimination? Sure. But it's not illegal and actually most people probably benefit from it. The real problem is that if there was a "Men's Night" or "Stag Night" or whatever you want to call it, there would be a lawsuit and many people would feel it is legitimate. A double standard, if you ask me; however, I think both ideas are ridiculous.

 

For example, you hear a lot about Title IX and how it encourages (demands) equal treatment for both men & women. If the women are short-changed, there is a large outcry. But what happens when it negatively affects the men? Seems strange that we don't hear much about that, doesn't it?

 

Just because something doesn't work out in your favor doesn't mean you have the right to sue. Give me a break. I understand everybody wants to make the quick, easy buck but we're doing so at the expense of society. I agree with the lawyer in the article that calls the lawsuit "frivolous".

Around here, ladies night, means drinks are like $1.50 instead of the normal $3.50 they charge for men....

 

I could care less...I know I for one would not go to a bar that advertised "Men's Night"....
