Grant Co. was up about 12 with 7:00 to go, but Williamstown made a run to tie it late. Grant Co. hit their free throws late to win the game.

 

After the game, the PA announcer announced that Williamstown freshman forward Tori Wilhoit had recorded her 500th rebound. Congratulations to her.

Congratulations to Torie. That is quite an accomplishment for a freshman. It sounds as if it was a really competitive game.

Congratulations to Grant County as well for the win.

Congrats to Tori! She plays much bigger than her size & will be fun to watch develop the next few years. Grant was in control most of this game until the 4th when Williamstown made a great run. Both teams ran into a bit of foul trouble early. Grant's PG & another starting guard hit the bench early with trouble. The PG had 3 at the beginning of the 2nd! In the 4th the foul trouble made it difficult to pressure as both guards had 4 & Williamstown got hot on the perimeter. Great run Williamstown to get into the game. You can never let your guard down with this team. They play hard & are always scrappy. A lot of comments were heard about the refs on this one, but there were some bad calls going both ways. Both teams had to deal with it. Great job Grant Co for keeping your heads in the 4th & not losing focus when Williamstown made the run.

I agree, the officiating was not the best, especially for a district game. Th re-match at Williamstown should be a good one.

Williamstown's defense on the perimeter was key. They knew they needed to stop Grant's outside shooting & did. Grant did not convert on a single 3pt shot. They forced Grant to play in the paint & on short range. Nice job!

Congrats to Torie. Will continue to see her grow and get stronger.

Mark Wilhoit always has his kids playing hard regardless of who they are playing. He does an outstanding job.

He always has a way to get them play and play hard. What Williamstown needs is develope a youth program to feed the high school. Alot of these girls have been playing varstiy since the 6th grade. I know Mark would like to have a couple of seniors each and every year.

 

As these ladies continue to get stonger, Grant County or should I say the 32nd district teams will need to watch out.

Mark does a great job with what he has. Too bad he doesn't have more resources. Maybe there's some players in the band.:fire:

They have the BEST band in the region IMO. Those kids get into it! They are seated directly behind the visitors' bench. Coaches usually have to take their team out to the free throw line so they can communicate during time outs.:thumb:

 

If some school has a better band at their home games, I would like to know about it.
