Another close game, yet another tough loss for the Lady Bears. The Lady bears fought back from being down 10, and out scored the Lady Eagles 15-9 in the third quarter. Starting the fourth quarter down 1 the game went back and fourth and the Lady Bears could never get the lead. There defense played solid all night holding both of Scotts big girls in check. Brown had 2 and Tibbs had 6. Benzinger had the hot hand tonight for the Lady Eagles knocking down 6 three's and leading all scores with 22. On the offensive end Figgins lead Bracken Co. with 14 and four three's herself followed by Kauinui with 7. The Lady Bears go to Deming on Sat. for a 3:00 game against the Lady Devils.

As a spectator tonight, I was surprised at the scheme on defense which almost worked in the favor of the Lady Bears. With the two post players that Scott High has, I was thinking that I would be looking at a 2-3 zone packed in, but seen a 32 zone and actually as the CountryBoy states shut down Tibbs and Brown, which is reverse of what it actually is supposed to do. I always thought the 32 would shut down the outside. In return Benzinger gets countless looks and knocks down the open 3's to prove to be too much and push Scott High over the top. Great effort and good game, Bracken comes up short in getting the game to go back and forth as they were never able to take the lead. Best of luck on Saturday to the Lady Bears.

It was definitely a very close game last night. And the lady bears did a good job of shutting down Tibbs and Brown. Tibbs has had a double double the last few games, and Brown has been playing very well also. Benzinger was able to put some points on the board when the team needed it. Scott was actually short 4 players last night due to injuries and illness. Two of the players are varsity starters. Nice game was played by the Lady Polar Bears. They never gave up. Scott definitley eeked one out last night.

If the 2 starters were out for Scott still which i believe they were then this a bad home loss for Bracken.Congrats to Scott.

It wasnt the same two starters that were out against Mason. Benzinger and Tibbs, 2 of their best 3 players, played against Bracken Co, but sat against Mason Co.

This was a close one. Though, I was surprised that Bracken didn't apply more pressure to the ball in the 2nd half. Defense may have stopped their inside game, but left the shooter open around the perimeter. I was looking for a box and one in the second half. Their shooter didn't have to work too hard for her points.

Agree, the 3-2 zone is designed to stop the outside game, and it simply didn't.

What grade is # 50 for Bracken County? She had a nice JV game. Does she contribute on the varsity level very much?

If the proper pressure if put on the perimeter player in a 3-2 zone, they cannot get a good look to throw the pass inside.

Part of the responsibility in defending the post is on the person guarding the passer. They have to put pressure on them and make them try to deliver the ball to the post while being harrassed.

In addition, it is very easier to double down on the post from the middle of the 3, have the weakside wing rotate over on the pass to the point and the person who doubled down swinging to the weakside wing if the post player kicks the ball back out.

The 3-2 CAN be used to defend the post.

And just for the record, when the ball goes to the corner, ALL zone defenses are the same. 2-2-1. Doesn't matter how it starts, but ball goes to corner and they are all 2-2-1.
