A nice combination of Mustang defense and a less stingy defense than we saw at Campbell County last Friday leads to a sizable win over PCo.

 

I too was surprised at the margain of victory. Brossart wins each quarter: 11-4, 12-9, 14-7, 21-9.

 

Happy to see our guys put up 58 points.

 

Eleven Mustangs in the scoring column led by Droooo Kremer's 13.

Doug Lambert of PC led all scorers with 14.

 

Rieger was in foul trouble from the opening bell and did not factor - another positive for the Mustangs offense. Mustangs "big men" Stortz and Wolfer combine for 16 points. Stortz is starting to play some good roundball, and Wolfer (a junior) earned himself a start tonight. Hertzenberg even chimed in with a 3-ball, making it a banner night for the post-players.

 

Will be interesting to see if our D can contain Deming in the Massey Showcase on Saturday in Mount Olivet.

Seriously, a statement win by the Mustangs in hostile territory. Sounds like PC has some things to get straightened out.

Coach Simms and PC will be just fine. As for the future I wouldn't say the cupboard is bare at all. They have quite a bit of talent in some of their younger grades. It will take some time, but Coach Simms will have this program thriving again before to long!

And he has taken stands on issues that other coaches have not. He has taken steps to improve the feeder program when others have not been willing to commit to the program beyond the freshmen year.

 

He has started traveling teams for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th grade that plays in a school league at SOAS in Florence. That will do nothing but better improve the players as they enter the 6th grade.

 

Meaning they can take the 6th, 7th, 8th to another level and better be prepared as freshmen entering.

 

In addition, he has encouraged players from those teams to continue in fall and summer leagues/camps. Some will be doing that.

The 10th in general lost a ton to graduation this past year, but there's still a little talent down Maysville way. I would also expect some of the younger kids on several teams, that are just now getting some varsity PT; to step up as the year goes on.

I agree, when a decent at best CCHS team is the second best in the region, it says alot about the talent...
