TigerKat. You mentioned you know some Butler folks. Is it true that the football players were consulted by administration and played a big part in the decision to fire Lucas? Are the animals controlling the zoo?

I heard rumors that there were alot of kids who quit last year. However, I talked to one of the Butler assistants at the finals and he said they had 75 players signed up for the offseason program. If that's the case, it sure doesn't seem like Lucas lost his team. I wish the best to Coach Lucas, his staff, and the kids at Butler.

I am very good friends with one of the (former) assistants, there were 92 kids lifting Monday afternoon, the day they got rid of him.

 

19 of the 22 starting positions for the last couple games and the St. X playoff game were Freshmen and Sophomores, so someone will inherit a decent squad.

Butler could not beat Valley, Western or Fairdale. Western smacked Butler in the regular season a year ago. and if my memory is correct they scrimmaged Fairdale and they beat them by 5 or 6 TDs. Butler will have to improve a great deal to compete with those schools, whether they are small schools or not. They better hope the young kids grow fast for next year.

Not to say it did not happen but doubtful, maybe parents and alumni who have kids on the team. I would hope that with what Bocko has accomplished during his years of school and football that would not happen.

That is a short sighted view. Butler has a winning record vs every team you mentioned, it won't take them long to rebuild.

I agree Ram, Butler should own the little schools around them, but fact is they dont right now. I believe Valleys record was 9-3 second round playoffs, Fairdale 9-4 third round of playoffs, and Western 4-7 but had to forfit some games really 6-5.
