Williamsburg vs. Whitley Co. Predictions

Recommended Posts

Records from the past have no effect on tonights game. Williamsburg has had some pretty good teams in the past, but those players won't be there tonight to help the Jackets. Seems as though the Jackets have been struggling here lately and the Colonels are playing well. At least the Jackets will have "their record" to take with them after tonight.

"been struggling here lately", is one huge understatement IMO, strange things happen and they may pull out an upset, but not likely.

Sorry, did not mean to ruffle any feathers, just curious:confused:

From Apex's post, you can tell the the 'Burg has walked away with more than their fair share of wins out of this longstanding series with the Colonels. There have been some very good Jacket teams but the events that transpired before the Robinson kid took over has set them back. Brent West had the program on the right track, but the work of a few individuals ruined it. Now Robinson is building from the ground up in his first "real" year with the program. People have to be patient. There isn't going to be a quick fix to get the Burg back on track.

Williamsburg had a good run with coaches, Rich Prewitt, Bill Perkins, and Brent West...One bad hire and 6 years later this is what you get, a program in trouble...Coach Robinson will need time and IMO some help...

Williamsburg is better than they have shown thus far this season. Hopefully they have done some soul searching and will start the battle to win some games and improve. I think the best thing the Jackets can do is look at tonight as the start of the season. Forget the past and work towards the rest of the season. Regardless of the outcome, positives can come from competing and playing hard together. I think most Jacket fans want the same thing, some just have a funny way of going about expressing themselves.

I would say two bad hires in a row. Coach Robinson is learning under fire. He took the job when the program was in real trouble, and he will get things turned around. Most of his most talented kids are young and did not practice most of the fall because of football. As the season goes on they will improve. I think Whitley is the better team and should win this game, but look for big things from Williamsburg in the future.

Just wondering after looking at these three coaches, who had the best success and or record at W'burg during their tenure?

The coach before Rick Jones won coach of the year one season and then lost a lot of credit because of what he said about the basketball districts and everything fell apart after that. This could be the game for the Burg to turn it around though.

Coach Haynes is who you are talking about. I would have to think Rich Prewitt was the most succesful. District Champions and Region Runners up to the Richie Farmer led Clay Co.. Coach West also one a district title as well. I believe in his first season as head coach. I believe Randy Vernon's son was on that team.

Give Coach Robinson time and he will turn things around. The players and their parents must buy in or this process will be longer than any of us want it to be. Teague, Taylor, Pettit, and Cunningham are a good collection of parts but they must gel for this bunch to become a good team.
