I've never understood how Sagarin gets his SOS. I've always felt there is a west coast bias to it.

 

For example, USC's opponents have a combined record of 56-70. If you take out Oregon and Az St, the rest of the teams are a combined 39-65. How does that equate to th 33rd SOS. I think the CBS one is more accurate at 74.

I disagree, I think the Sagarin is much better it tends to favor overall quality. Part of the reason the Pac-10 does better is because they all play each other (nine automatic BCS conference opponents) plus they generally have 1 or two other BCS opponents on there schedule. Most other conferences only play eight games and they usually replace the other one with a cupcake, also the fact that the Sagarin rate both D1 and D1-AA together it gives a larger picture.

Notice how high (or not) my regards are the current #1 team in the country. Therefore, your point about KU not getting blown out has little merit with me. The Big 12 is bad this year - Big 10 bad almost.

 

Exposed means that while many were touting them as a legit title game contender, they were exposed to be a team that wins against decent teams but cannot win the ONE game against a tough team. I'm not sure what else you can call it.

 

Three teams in the top 10, Texas at #17, and a few other decent teams including Texas Tech. I don't think I'd classify the conference as bad. Three teams in the top 10 is enough to negate that claim.

In most years I might agree with you. But I think, somehow, his formula puts too much weight on past years or something. USC has played 4 bowl eligible teams and 7 teams that are not bowl eligible. UCLA will be their 5th bowl eligible team. Their non conference was Nebraska, Idaho, and Notre Dame. Two of these teams are usually good (not USC's fault) but their not this year. Seven teams with losing records doesn't warrent the SOS he gives them.

The Big 12 is a BCS conference in name only this year. As much as I think the Big East is not as strong as other BCS, they're as good at the top as the Big 12 is this year.

tOSU has USC, Youngstown State, and Troy

LSU in 2008 plays North Texas and tOSU opponent Troy

UF has Hawaii, and Citadel

While Auburn has probably the toughest OOC schedule I've seen with WVU, SoMiss, and the cupcake UL-Monroe
