"She was cooperative," he said. Lohan was released at 11:54 a.m. Her original day-long sentence was reduced because she met criteria that took into account overcrowding at the lockup and the fact that her crime was non-violent, Whitmore said.

Put her on probation and don't waste the tax dollars to book her, etc, etc. Waste of time and money. Better than that, have her pickup trash alongside the road for a day instead of taking her to jail and releasing her after 84 minutes. It makes a joke of the justice system. How many teenagers or preteens do you think are going to see this and think that if they have multiple DUI's and run-ins with the law that they are going to go to jail for 84 minutes?

I know you're a teacher, so I'll educate you for a minute. This happens thousands of times a day across the country. Hamilton County just shut down there work detail program. Those programs are nice but they don't bring in money but they sure take out a lot. If everyone that was sentenced to prison or jail in this country served there full term, we'd have to use entire cities to house them. Prison overcrowding is not just an excuse, most jails and prisons, especially in California are running at about 200% occupancy. They are unsafe already with how many extra people they have stuffed in them.

No, as I said, they should have programs that allow non-violent criminals to do things other than come to jail for 84 minutes and make a joke of the justice system. The teens that idolize her, do you think they understand the concept of local government budgeting and the social problems of overcrowding in jails OR that you get multiple DUI's and you go to jail for 84 minutes?

Ok, now you're in my ballpark ( I do IT for Hamilton County) Any guess as to how much an EMU (Electronic Monitoring Unit)network costs? I'll let you guess. What about the man hours to run the machine and monitor the people on it? Again, I'll let you guess at that. A Work detail program for a small county in Ohio, Hamilton County, requires, 10 vans (and gas) 4 Full time employees and real estate to house the unit. Wanna take a guess on how much that is a year? And then how much larger and more expensive that would be in LA?

A prison or jail in Louisville Metro to hold every person for the full term of there sentence would fill U of L and cost billions, you gonna help pay for it?
