November 14, 200718 yr Maryland - gotta go with Len Bias (unfortunately), but a close second was the 1974 ACC title game. NC State 103, Maryland 100.
November 14, 200718 yr Alabama - football, there is no other way to view this, one name? Bear Bryant Kentucky - basketball, see above - Adpolh Rupp Louisville - basketball, for now, though they have a great shot at being special in both. Duke - basketball, Mike Krzyzewski, 3 championships, and no glory except for the ole' ball coach Miami - football, the "U", plain and simple has been a factory for NFL players Florida - football, for now, and with last year's exodus, football will likely reign supreme UCLA - basketball, and likely always will, simply due to the fact that football, nor basketball for that matter, could mirror the success of the '60's and 70's. Tennessee - football, their basketball team is nice (women's is a different story) but won't win anything important Texas - football, next West Virginia - see above Ohio State - football, I believe last year was a flash in the pan, while football continues to garner national attention Boston College - basketball, this one is a bit shady, while the football team seems to be competitive, basketball has been more consistent of late Indiana - basketball, the The General, the Crimson and Cream...etc.... North Carolina - basketball, Butch Davis will try to turn this sentiment, but the deck is stacked... Florida State - football, their time with dominance has passed under Bowden, but it is still king in Tallahassee.
November 14, 200718 yr BAMA More bowl wins and games played than any school. The most 10 win seasons. 12 National Championships Winning edge over every SEC school. First 3 Super Bowl MVPs came from BAMA. Has the only player to score a TD in four straight years in a Major Bowl game. The only team to win the major Bowl game more than once. Rose, Sugar, Cotton, and Orange. Team of the decade of the 60s and the 70s. And has the most obnoxious Fans. Including me...who has two sons names after the Bear and Joe Namath.

And the bulk of this was done before most of today's recruits were out of diapers.
