GRC 42 Southwestern 24

Featured Replies

We left in the middle of the 3rd quarter and the score was 36-0. Southwestern scored when GRC subbed to get some experience for our other players.

Great win for the cards going into the playoffs.

Good win GRC. Good Luck in the playoffs.

I heard SW's White got hurt. Any word on his condition?

SW did have a player to get hurt, but I don't know how serious it was.

Many Southwestern supporters, including WarriorPrincess, who is deeply connected to the program suggested that this group of Warriors would reload and impress the state. However, they won only 2 games and displayed little heart. People had gotten on them in previous years for good regular season records and poor playoff records--this year was reversed even with the high praise from the Warrior faithful. What is going on at Southwestern? There is a problem somewhere......

^ Sorry Gym.. No problems a good off-season in the field house won't solve.. At times this season the Warriors had as many as seven freshmen and sophomores on the field playing against some strong teams. Injuries and lack of depth hurt SW the most this season..

Early word is severe high ankle sprain for White.

Who did the scoring for the Cardinals?

Ryan Williams and Michael Clark combined for 315 yards rushing and four touchdowns to lead the Cards’ offensive attack. Travis Conner got in on the act with 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

I'm sure they'll get at it. They'll be adding a strong incoming freshman class in the offseason also. They did really develop their passing game this season from what they did in years past. Hopefully with the weight room work their ground game will return next season and they'll be very balanced. How many seniors do they lose?

Willaims, for GRC, will be a key player, in the playoffs.

Williams has been huge in the past 4 games. I wonder why they didn't run him all season.

This should be an interesting game on Friday, as the Cards go to Madison Central.

He has health issues...remember when they had to carry him out on a stretcher at the Montgomery Co game? If had had stayed in that game I feel we would have won.

:irked: I'm tired of everyone acting like #21 Williams is the only good running back at GRC. #17 Conner and #10 Clarke are just as good. To be honest, the line blocks harder when #21 Williams is in. Half the time #17 Conner is having to dodge defenders in the backfield, whereas #21 Williams goes untouched until he's 5 yards downfield. People in the stands have been saying the same thing, including a couple of scouts I talked to.

Also, some of William's big runs have come from blocks that Conner made at fullback. For Conner to be blocking so hard for Williams is commendable. Remember, Williams is a junior and a transfer. Conner and Clarke are homegrown seniors. This was supposed to be their year at RB. Conners was getting the job done just fine (He's still averaging 5+ yards per carry). Neither he nor the offense was the reason GRC lost to Montgomery County. We lost because our defense gave up too many points, not because Williams wasn't running that much. Conner and Clarke are getting done dirty at RB, but they're still being team players. I pray that God rewards them in college.

All I'm trying to say is that GRC has 3 talented running backs, not just 1. If the coaches use all 3 of them equally like they did against Southwestern, we'll advance in the playoffs. If they rely on Williams alone, we'll lose. Use all your weapons, GRC, not just one. Spread the ball around and keep the play-calling mixed up and watch how dominant we'll be. May God B with U.

Not a good year for the Warriors, arguably may be the worst season ever in the 14 years of existence. Lack of depth really hit the warriors hard and it showed on the overall record. Just one piece of advice that would be helpful for the warriors and thats hit the weight room hard in the off-season, this is where men are made.
