I like Lincoln Co in this one...You never know which Hoptown is going to show up, the one that beat Mercer, Christian Co and WCentral or the one that layed an egg against Highlands, Trigg Co, Owensboro, Marshall Co...I know those 4 losses are to 4 quality teams, but, the Tigers played poorly in each...

Long bus trips haven't been kind to Hopkinsville this year. Pats by 22.

This will be the first meeting for these two teams.

 

The only connection of which I am aware is former LC head coach, Larry Phillips (1984-1990) was an assistant coach at Hop-town in the late 70's/early 80's.

They also played Mercer County and Highlands. I guess people in WKY don't want to play the Tigers.

Travel time should be around 4 hours or so. This should have been the year everybody in wky should have wanted to play the tigers. Only 3 starters back on offense and 4 on defense from last year team that made it to the regional finials. The tigers are very young at the skill position with all but one starter returning for next year. Talk to several coaches this week and they feel they have a good shot at upseting Lincoln this Friday but have to play better then they did last week vs Warren Central.

Hopkinsville has wanted to set something up with Lincoln for several years. Hoptown did scrimmage Lincoln Co. back in 93 & 94.

 

Last week the Tigers made some changes in the lineup. It showed in a unorganized performance against Warren Central. This week they need to be a little more sound in the passing game.

Hopkinsville might be young, but the fact of the matter is, year in year out, always have and always will...Hoptown has more speed and athleticism than 90% of the teams across the state have in a "good" year. On top of that, they are always well coached, this year especially. Hoptown beating Lincoln would not be considered an upset, IMO and that is NO DISRESPECT meant towards the PATS in anyway!! When you have the tradition, talent and respect like you all have at Hoptown, you don't upset others....others might upset you. You all are exempt from the phrase, "being upset".

 

The only negative for Hoptown comming into this one is the fact that they will have to ride 4 hours on a bus (and you also have to play against a very solid, well coached team..but, that's not to unusual for you all), then play. That's not the most enjoyable of things to do, we (Mercer) had to make a trip like that two weeks in a row and one of those was to you all.

I really wouldn't consider it an upset either. LC is having a better season, so I guess technically you could call it that.

 

Judging by their scores, I expect it to be a close contest. I feel like this great senior class LC has will get the victory on senior night. This class (along with Larry French) is responsible for putting LC back on the map.

 

LC can usually contain speed with with stingy defense, hopefully they will be able to Friday night.

I think Lincoln makes up for last weeks heartbreaker and takes care of business LC 28 Hoptown 14.

I don't think Lincoln will lose 2 in a row heading into the playoffs, French will have the boys ready for Senior night.. Pats Win!!

The drive isn't a concern IMO. It is what it is Hoptown will get charter busses and make the ride as comfortable as possible and stop somehwere about midway and let the kids out to stretch and all that good stuff. Some Coaches make the bus ride a distraction and harp on it so much that it mentally becomes a factor.

 

Unfortunately for Hopkinsville they will be without starting FB/LB Joe Harris who suffered a ankle injury in practice on Tuesday. He is the teams 2nd leading tackler on defense and has the best hands of the RB's. Harris could be out for next weeks playoff game.

 

Hopkinsville needs to not give up the big play and the defense needs to continue to play the way it's played the previous 3 weeks. Offensively it would be nice to see WR Darrick Dillard step up. He has the body and athleticsm to be a difference maker outside and even over the middle. He has the tools he just needs to put out the constant effort.
