wow! big time win for the army boys

Ft. Campbell played a great defensive game and was hitting the Aces backs and receivers very hard all night long. The Aces QB didn't have much time to set and throw as the Falcon defense put the heat on him all night long. The first quarter was very sloppy by both teams as there were 5 turnovers and no scoring. Catholic scored first on a trick play, halfback pass, but Fort Campbell ran the ensuing kickoff back to take the lead.

 

Falcon running back Troy Turner had 25 carries for 115 yards and 3 td's.

 

Good win for the Falcons but will see the Aces again in 4 weeks when it really counts.

This was a huge win for the Falcons, especially considering that OC has had the Falcon’s number in recent playoff history and they are now District rivals. However, I would agree with the earlier post about sloppy play by both teams and the amount of turnovers. While FCs QB was the player of the game for his offensive performance, it was FCs defense that stepped up and really won this game for them. Good players step up in big games and FCs seniors on defense really stepped it up. OCs defense also played a tough game and stopped the Falcons three times inside the Red Zone.

 

If FCs defense continues to play like they did last night and with an offense that is capable of putting a lot of points on the board they have a good shot at going along way in the playoffs. I think the key will be turnovers. They can not turn the ball over like they did last night and continue to win against good teams. Next week will be another big game against former district rival and now regional rival Trigg County.

This had to be one of the most disappointing performances I have seen by a Catholic team in a long time. FC played with intensity and cleary wanted it more. I worried coming off the big win last week at Warren East this game had the potential to lay a big egg....

Edge will have this team ready next week....

 

The two should meet again in round 2 of playoffs.
