no doubt russells offense looked very impresive but there defense was lacking motivation. first game of russells i seen this year but im sure they will come to play against other teams. britt (# 24) had over 100 yards receivng again for lewis and he was 3rd in the state as of this morning in receiving yards. russell will be tough to stop. boys for lewis who have stuck with it have a lot of heart. good luck to both teams.

Lewis Counties kids did show alot of heart. They should be commended.

I haven't seen the stats either but I don't think they had 300 yards passing. The JV defense was in early and the freshman were in much of the 4th quarter but 300 would suprise me. #24 is a very good reciever though. He has nice hands and moves well with the ball once he catches it.

 

For Lewis County it has to be hard to run that fast break offense with so few players. This game was like watching UK against Florida during the Mumme era.

It was so funny when Lewis lined up for the extra point and they had no idea that a touchdown was even scored. They called themselves larry mo, and curly.

Nobody had a clue that the TD was scored. Max Rogers put a serious hit on a Lewis Co reciever. Everybody thought it was an incomplete pass. The Russell players were celebrating the hit and the Lewis Co players, most of them, were looking to see if their teammate was allright. Problem was the ref ruled it a cathch and a fumble and never blew the whistle. Finally one of the Lewis Co players picked up the ball and walked into the endzone unnoticed by the entire Russell team, fans and apparently the broadcasters. It was at least 20 seconds after the hit that the TD was scored.

Jones played on offense but I don't think he ever ran the ball. The only good to come out of this game was ALOT of playing time for the JV.

 

The bad, and I know it sounds like a broken record, The starters really looked uninterested in this game.

 

From here on out the schedule gets much tougher. Simon Kenton, Mason County and Raceland. That stretch of games should tell alot about this team.

That was an interesting play. I thought he timed the hit perfect and it was an incomplete pass. So did everyone else in the stadium except for the one official and he was the one that counted. I hope we learned somthing from that play. Thats why we play to the whistle.

Devils have several good parts going on , will be interesting to see if they can be combined into a entire game against someone who can actually play with the Devils ... Lewis exposed Devils defense has work to do against a team that can execute a offense. While Devil offense learned nothing last night as was too easy ...

Lewis had 19 on their roster? I bet there were nearly that many Russell players that got to carry the ball! Can anyone tell me if this is close to being true?

 

By the way, congrats to Ivan McGlone on his 300 high school victories. That is a truly incredible accomplishment and couldn't of happened to a better person.

 

For all you bluegrasspreps folks out their, just think about winning 300 varsity football games and how tough that would be! We often times hear about records and say our congratulations and then dismiss the thought to move on with our lives. But think about that for a minute...(simple math--30 years averaging 10 wins a year!) it's remarkable isn't it! Congrats Ivan, your staff and all your players who over the years have made that possible.
