2007/2008 Ryle

Is Josh Morgan planning on playing this year? If he could get his head into the game he could be a solid player, as well.

Not likely on first question and too big an IF on the second statement to risk it when you have a solid point guard in Ahern returning who will always do what the coaches say and also makes his teammates better.

I disagree with you that Logan Porter is there best player John Maley

Where would you rank any individual player on this team as far as best in region? Top 10/20???

My thoughts are that they are not top ten... Ryle needs to play better basketball and leave their egos at the door because they are not very sharp as individuals but could be tough if they played intelligently and together imo

Ahern is decent IMO, he has alot to work on though, first of all, his quickness. With his size he needs to be much quicker than he is right now. I know last year there were several games he really struggled to get the ball up the court against man to man pressure.

Maley has the talent to be top 10. The mental toughness on a day to day basis will be the difference on whether he fulfills that potential or just is a good high school player.

Ahern is solid, not flashy. I would take him in the clutch situation at the free throw line. As a freshman he carried them to championship by hitting many free throws down the stretch of big games. He did struggle some with man to man, pressure, but I think his teammates did not help him in their ability to get open. Many times turnovers are a result of bad team execution and not just the point guard. But a year getting stronger should help.

I agree that Maley has the talent, there is no doubt about that... how he deals mentally with adversity is the big key. Ryle won't win every game but as a senior he needs to show mental toughness so that this team won't lose multiple games and games they shouldn't.

agreed!

Why would Ryle want to go into the season with another headcase. It seems they have dealt with that for the past several years.Hopefully, coach Mullins will have the answer before their halfway thru the season.

Maleys older brother (middle brother) was some what of a head case as well durring his sophomore year. However, he got his head straight and help lead Ryle to the Region Championship in 2002! Hopefully John will do the same! (Get his head together, I dont see this team having much of a chance of winning region.)

Where can you find a Varsity and JV roster from last year? They are not posted on the Ryle website.

How did Coach Mullins get this job? What did he do besides win the freshmen championship with a very gifted team? I'm not trying to bash him, just would like to get some info so I can get confidence in his abilities.

He has JV coaching experience as well.

To answer your question, I guess we would have to know who else was in the running for the job.

The word is that so far this year Maley is taking a big leadership role and working quite a bit with the juniors and sophmores.

What position will Maley play this year? If its down low, Ryle would have the tallest frontline in the region, if the sohp. starts. Why are they ranked so low?

From what I am told he has been playing center, but not everybody is there yet because of football.
