Clay County 63 Lynn Camp 38

Featured Replies

Good Start for Clay County!! Stepp has really turned that program around. Hope Clay County has a great year!

Not so fast my friend. This sounds just like last year, Clay puts up big #'s against below average teams and when it comes to big games, there luck to throw for a 100 yards and can't find the endzone. Lynn Camp is not very good, might get better later on if they can stay healthy. Maybe Corbin and The Camp can hook up and play next year.

Clay looked very good last night in the second half when the D made its adjustments it held Lynn Camps great back to 19 yards rushing. What impressed me most of all the new players that Clay shuffled in and out most of them Freshman and sophmores, Number 15 is going to be one impressive Wide reciever number 44 the freshman back showed some impressive moves, and the Collins Kid who is just a sophmore rolled up about 130 yards rushing. Number 32 is a great short yardage back he runs straight ahead taking every inch he's given. Clay had 5 or 6 recievers who caught balls and 3 or 4 backs who carried the ball very well. With all those bodies catching passes its going to suck tryng to defend Mr. Lewis's arm he now has good hands at every position going at least two deep.

I thought Clay would get beat last night I even predicted it.... now I'm eating crow..YUM YUM.. Stepp fooled me in the scrimages, the team I watched last night wasn't the same team I watched against Corbin.

We'll find out if Clay is the real deal against Hazard I think Hazard will be favored against Clay Co being on their home turf ,but I'm not will to bet against the Boys in Gold from Clay again this season.

I had Hope that North Laurel would pick up an easy district win against the Tigers but now I'm concerned....... a tad.

Coact T witht the states leading rusher from last season in your backfield makes for a pretty good team'd hate to have to play LC again, I thought they'd have beat Clay Co.

Your Delusional or worried one or they other...you Pick

Any stats from the game? Whats was CC's Lewis' and LC's Roskoph's numbers like.

Lynn Camp last night looked like a team that has improved, as least on offense. Joe Roskopf showed why he is one of the top players in state, 24 carries, 211 yards rushing, 4tds. Another positive area for the cats was the passing game which also looked better. Lynn Camp threw a td pass something didn't do all of last year. The passing game is has a long way to go, but it is moving in the right direction. The defense for Lynn Camp last night, was one of the worse I have seen out of a Lynn Camp team. They struggled stopping the run and the pass, and big credit to that should go to Lewis, and company. He is one of the top qbs in the state, and showed what he can do. The plays that hurt Lynn Camp was right before the half, coming up two yards short of taking the lead into halftime as time ran out, and not being able to score after the turnover to start the second half. Clay County offense was their best defense in the second half. They did a good job running the ball and eating up the clock, and keeping Lynn Camp's offense off the field. Lynn Camp's future looks bright at running back, a nice varsity debut for Wes Steele, who made nice runs in the second half, I look for him to get more carries as the season moves on. I expect Lynn Camp to focus on defense this week. They will need to play well to beat a good Cumberland team next week.

Clay Co played bad D in the first half but I thought they had very good D in the second. I was very happy with the way they played. They were a ton of players that looked good for Clay tonight.

When was the last time you watched a pretty good high school team that features a prolific back #31 (getting over 200 yards and 4 TD's), and a very good back in #21, score 38 points and get beat by 25? I'm not labeling Clay as district champions yet but, their performance last night was impressive in a lot of ways.

I agree, I have to say I was worried by watching the scrimages but the Tigers looked very good last night especially the 2nd half.

NO ONE played great D in 1st or 2nd half last night. 996 combined yards of offense. C'mon now. Lewis threw for 300+ yds. Roskoph rushed for 220 yards, Wagner for near 100 and the sophmore Stelle had 60+ in his first high school game. Adjustments were made that stopped some of the bigger gains, but D was almost non-existent. If LC was held to 19 yards rushing, which it was not, in the 2nd half, that would mean they had over 400+ yards for the first half, which did not happen, either. That would also mean Roskoph had over 200 yards rushing in the first half. (CC had 550+ yards for the game, .)

LC had yardage in the 2nd half and very little was in the air, and very little passing yardage for the game, so where would it have come from? There were many decently long runs in the half for the Cats. Trust me, there were more than 19 rushing yards for LC in the half. We did not play good D, but don't exagerate the D that was not there last night either way. 996 yards for a game is nothing for either to gloat on!

Geez man let it go. Clay is the best team Lynn Camp will play all year. The Campers have a chance to have a good year. They will have to keep Rospkof healthy. Good luck to them.

I was tickled to see the new kids from Clay play well. Gilbert has a great future. I'm sure not many realized that Clay's big de and left tackle is a freshman. He is a load. I think he will be D-1. The Collins kid(No.23) got his first varsity start at rb and did well. He's a great kid. Good grades, no problems. I hope football is a ticket for him to have a better life. The receiver, no. 15, is a freshman. Super talent. Needs some weight. His Dad was a great qb. No. 44 is a freshman, another super talented young kid. 32 is a soph. Clay lost almost all their o-line from last year.. I thought they did a great job. All those kids are good students and citizens. Good luck to both teams and coaches. Our finest young people in our county play FOOTBALL.

I'm congtatulatory of the Tigers. They played a great game on the Offensive side of the ball. I was just clarifying that we did have more than 19 rushing yards for the 2nd half. Just calling on an exageration. I hope the young men from both teams become astronauts, doctors, lawyers, even circus clowns if that's what they want to be and football enables them to do that, well, all the better. Our kids are also solid citizens that love the game. They put in the effort, also. Don't know yet if the Tigers are the best Offensive unity we'll face this year, but definitely one of the top 2. Sorry if I insulted you in anyway. Just stating some facts in the last post. I'm sure that the Tigers and the Cats will have games to be proud of this year and games they'll want to forget. Good Luck to both.

I didn't see any great D last night by either team, BUT you must agree that the adjustments Clay made at the half slowed Roskoph down considerably. Clay tried to close the game out with about 9 minutes to go by playing a bunch of jv players on defense. Had Clay played their first team both ways all night like LC did it would have been even uglier. Clay at least had an answer for LC's offense in the second half whereas LC was overwhelmed all night long. It started out like a shoot-out with LC running out of bullets.

Not all night. We were matching score for score and had the lead a time or two through the first half. Missed a great chance to have the lead at the half. We were overwhelmed in the 2nd half, and were running some of our JV kids in and out in the second half. The kid that did a lot of the rushing late in the 3rd and most of the 4th was the backup tailback/fullback Steele. Many of the linemen are freshmen and sophmores. I don't know how much uglier it would have been , though. The JV kids scored on us at least 3 times that I can think of. I'll leave this thread with this:

I have not said that Clay County had a lucky, average, streaky, or any other deraguatory type of offense and/or team. I said they have a very good offense, which could be better, just like everyone else's, for the most part.

I did say that their D was not much better than ours. They stopped/slowed us down when they had to, but it could cause them trouble with better defenses/offenses than us. We both had above 400 yard offensive outings, and I did want to make note that we moved the ball in the 2nd half, also. We were not punching it into the end zone when they were. Hats off to Clay County and the season that could be. (I've always liked the Tigers and I am even married to a Clay County native!!!!) I can remember when they were struggling and pulled for them to turn it around. If they keep improving their O and really work on their D, watch out. If they keep giving up 400+ yards, they could end up like we did last night. I do think we'll mature and play better D and the room is there for our O to improve, and I think Clay will handle the problems they had on D. Good Luck Cats and Tigers for the rest of the season!
