LC will win. I look for fullback Coty Roberts to have a big game. He has a score to settle with Coal Grove. :sssh: He scored quickly last year then got hurt in the first quarter with a separated shoulder. Probably would have had a big game. I think that seniors Josh Ferguson & Brian Scarberry will really step up this year in the linebacker positions. Coal Grove is more fundamentally sound so LC will need to really get the points up early and maintain through their defense.

It all depends on our young line, and defensive backs.

Lawrence Co. 28

Coal Grove 14

Coty Roberts, IMO is one of the better backs in 4A and very underrated. I don't know why there isn't more talk about him. He led team in scoring and yardage last season, he can break away at any given moment. He is truly a leader on this team along with the other seniors who have carried the Bulldog tradition on through tough times.

The reason I am mentioning this is in a recent preview in the Daily Independent there is very little mention of these Seniors. I know LC is young but they have strong leadership with these fine young men who have stayed at LCHS and jumped ship to go to other schools when things were bad. I think they deserve more respect and I believe they will earn it every Friday night.

I could not agree more. :thumb: These seniors deserved better than this. They need to put that article behind them and prove that this is their team and go out to win. :ylsuper:

Surely to goodness the Dawgs will beat Coal Grove ... Coal Grove is not an Ohio football power. Kids from Ohio are tough and play fundamental between the tackles football but Coal Grove is very small school.

Big game for the program in Louisa ... a must win ...

I also have picked Lawrence to win but Coal Grove's program imo has been on the way back up the last few years. At one time years ago they were very good, then went down and then the bottom fell out even further after that. The coach that they have now (if it is the same one as last season) is very well respected man in that community and was apart of some very good C.G. teams that could compete with anyone on our side of the river and beat most back in that time. I worked with a man around 4 years ago that is an alum and former C.G. player and he was telling me then about the C.G. coach (the name escapes me) right now and how that he thought that he would bring them back to the good times. As you said and as bad as I hate to say it - Ohio schols imo are very fundamentally sound and for the most part better than a lot of the programs over here (usually). I also,( for very obvious reasons- LOL) wouldn't count anyone out bc the are a very small school ;) . Having said all of that - I still pick LCHS bc I believe that they are on the rise as well and will suprise a lot of folks this season.

Correction to my post: I meant to say, That these fine young who have stayed at LCHS and DID NOT jump ship to go to other schools when things were bad.

Watched a 3 team scrimmage @ Lawrence weekend before last ,they didn`t have much success passing against Fleming or Raceland that day maybe they got things worked out.

What time is the game ,has it been pushed back like the rest.

I believe that Coach Goldsmith went to Coal Grove? He ended up playing at a pretty good Morehead team with some QB named "Phil Simms". Goldsmith has helped build this program back up once. He'll do it again. He just needs some time.

Goldsmith is from Mason County KY
