If I see anything more personally directed on here I'm going to shut this down.

I was going to respond to this post but, I learned a long time ago that it is impossible to have a logical conversation with someone who is this sarcastic and has an obvious chip on their shoulder to boot.

 

Also, I wanted to add that I grew up with a mom and dad who were house parents at a childrens home for two years and when we left all the kids that were living with us left with us. Also, my parents adopted a young mentally handicaped girl (who was african american) because she had 8 brothers and sister who could not get adopted because they all had to get adopted or none of them could. The girl's name is Lynette and I am proud to call her my sister. My mom and dad are loving christians who raised and loved this girl as their own. I only tell this story because I was raised in a world where what you are so sarcastic about was talked abour frequently and those people who talked like you did in your post were always part of the problem and never....I repeat never part of the solution. I know when loving christians get together to solve problems like the one's that deal with the orphan problem in this country there is a difference made(however small it may be) and when people just complain and point fingers the problem just gets bigger.

What position do I need to rethink? I asked if anyone on here who was so anti-abortion had done anything to lessen the number of children waiting to be adopted? I did get a beautiful story of someone's parents having done so - nobody else has stepped up and said that they had. What does that lead me to believe . . .

 

The people (generalization) on this board don't want abortion and they don't want welfare to take care of poor families who have children. What then is the position that I should take. FWIW I am greedy and selfish and materialistic as much as "my neighbor" but I am not going to complain about my taxes and verbally run down those who are less fortunate than me - regardless of the reasons why.

 

There are none righteous, no not one . . . and yet we stand in judgment everyday over the decision that someone else has made and we make that our number one concern as christians. Where is the focus on social justice and taking care of the poor that both the old and new testaments confirm. Where is the talk of grace and mercy, "how many times am I to forgive him, Lord?" How about 7x70 Peter - how about everytime time he agrieves you.

Most will say that a woman (or anyone) does not have the right to take a life and a child (fetus, what have you) in the womb is a life. Ok...I respect that.

 

Some will give some circumstances where that might not be the best solution. If the health of the mother is in jeopardy...I can respect that. But then they also mention it in the case of a woman that is raped. Doesn't that child's life mean as much as another child's? Obviously it would be difficult on the mother...and as others pointed out, she could allow the child to be adopted. But I fail to see how this makes sense if a life is a life and no one has the right to take it.

 

What am I missing here?

Speaking on personally views, I am against abortion in any instance, including rape, unless the mother's life is in serious jeopardy. I agree that child is every bit as important as any other's...
