MLB Scoring Question (Trivia)

Featured Replies

On Scenario #1 - I was 0-2 and that is woeful....

On Scenario #2 - After much contemplation, I was 2-2 , after I changed my one answer to "B". If I'm Adam Dunn and go 2-2, I would still bet booed....

Scenario #1: Runners on 1st and 2nd. Runners advance safely via double steal. How is that scored for the participating parties personal stats?

Runners:

A) Both receive a stolen base

B) Lead runner only receives stolen base

c) Runner going to the base that the ball is thrown to gets a stolen base

Catcher:

A) Is charged with 0 stolen bases

B) Is charged with 1 stolen base

C) Is charged with 2 stolen bases

Scenario #2: Runners on 1st and 2nd. Runners try to advance via double steal but one runner gets thrown out. How is that scored for the participating parties personal stats?

Runners:

A) Safe runner receives stolen base

B) Depends on what happens to the lead runner

C) No one receives stolen base

Catcher:

A) Gets credit for a throw out and charged for a steal.

B) Gets credit for a throw out only

C) Gets credit for a throw out only if he throws the lead runner out

It's an all or nothing scenario.

Wow. A catcher can only throw the ball once yet he gets charged for 2 steals? Tough crowd.

Bottom line, throw a runner out and you won't get charged for anything...

It's an interesting scenario because you see so many catchers throw to second on a double steal. My guess is that they didn't see it right not giving him a stolen base because it's contested so much...

Do you have a link on this re: the catcher being charged? I googled it but could not find it.

Fair point , though, on the "throw one out and you won't have to worry about it" concept.

No. I'll try to find it in print. I actually heard it the other night on a broadcast but I can't remember who's broadcast it was though...
