July 25, 200719 yr We have killed a couple of copperheads and three rattle snakes.. one had 10 rattles and a button the others had 5 and 6 rattles. I was riding my fourwheeler the other day and seen a snake I have never seen before in my life. It was about 5 1/2 to 6 feet long. It was black with yellow rings going around it. Not like a garter snake that the yellow runs down its back these yellow strips were rings going down its back. Anyone know what it is? My favorite snake is a dead snake!!!

That sounds like a cow snake, sometimes called milk snake. I don't ever kill these snakes, or any black snake. They're not venonmous, catch rodents, and will kill a copperhead or rattler through constriction if they come into contact with them.
July 27, 200719 yr Author I killed a black snake last night at the golf course. On purpose or just a bad slice?
July 27, 200719 yr We have a female house cat that loves to hunt when we let her out in the backyard . Not the one in my avatar that is our male cat and he a big coward . All the female ever catches are snakes nothing else just snakes . She generally brings them up on our deck and plays with them until she gets tired or until I take pity on the snake and make her stop. The snakes generally slither under the ground level deck . She has caught about a dozen this spring and summer .
July 28, 200719 yr I found a 4 feet long snake skin in my back yard a couple weeks ago...I could really care less if I actually see the snake...
