A tough schedule for Raceland that should serve them well but Beechwood's is likely the hardest. CovCath defending 3A champ and now 5A. NCC defending two-time 1A champ now 2A. Dixie a former 4A playoff contender (and past defeater in this decade of Highlands and Trinity), Lloyd a 2A playoff team, Cov HC a team that defeated NCC in the regular season last year, and a Prestonberg team that has enjoyed playoff success.

I have to agree, Beechwood's schedule is more difficult then Raceland's, But I think Raceland's is not going to be a cake walk.

Ashland - A playoff team year in and year out. Now a 5A team.

Russell - In two years a state champion and a state champion runner up, now 3A.

Greenup Co. - a inter-county rival, now 4A

LCA - District rival, replay of last year's district championship.

East Carter and West Carter - Both 3A teams.

Pikeville's is second to none:

Louisville Holy Cross

Ashland

Lexington Catholic

Belfry

Prestonsburg

Mayfield plays Pad Tilghman, who'll most likely be at least a final 4 team in 3a and is a traditionally strong program...They also play 2 6a schools in Graves Co and Marshall Co, who were 8-2 and 7-3 respectively, last year in 4a and Caldwell Co., who went 9-1 in 2a last year and then Heath and Calloway Co.. Heath is a decent 2a team, that finished 6-4 last year and Calloway was a 3a team last year, thats in a rebuilding mode...This may not be the strongest schedule in 1a, but, I doubt there will be many much tougher...

A very tough schedule indeed (maybe too tough a la CovCath at times in the past) but who knows with the new "no need to really win district games" set-up in the state.

These are all extremely tough games but IMO all of them are winable.

I'm afraid Lexington Catholic's bus won't even pull in until 5 minutes before game time, and they won't even park it or turn it off..

The rest I agree are winnable ON PAPER...for what that's worth...

I like the fact that Raceland plays the larger schools outside their district schedule but IMO Beechwod has the toughest schedule in Class-A.

Everyone said the Henry Clay game would be over at halftime last year and we played them tough till the end of the 3rd quarter when Mayo went down. Only 2 teams held HC under 35 points last year and Pikeville was one of them. Besides its all about getting better for playoff time.

^^I agree. Do you know when/where/vs. whom Pikeville's scrimmages are???

I know one of them is at Mount Sterling and the other at Pikeville but I cant remember who the teams are that were playing. If Im not mistaken I think the one at Pikeville will the be a gridorama with 4 teams and each playing the other like last year. We should be having a booster club meeting here soon so maybe Ill know more by then.

Beechwood followed by Pikeville gets my vote but its based upon the strength of the teams they are playing from how well they did last year.
